Sally Alicia Acorn is the rightful heir and tomboyishly beautiful princess of Mobius following the imprisonment of her father King Maximilion Acorn by the villainious Dr. Ivo Robotnik in Archie comics (as well as some versions of the Sonic cartoon series), however due to Robotnik having successfully taken over a large amount of Mobius, Sally has been forced into exile and has joined forces with Sonic and his friends to form the Freedom Fighters, a group dedicated to toppling Robotnik's rule and safeguarding Mobius.
Following the death of Robotnik the Freedom Fighters have had to content with greater threats, such as Snively and the Iron Queen and Archie's version of the famous Dr. Eggman (himself an alter-ego of the deceased Robotnik).
Although Sally and Sonic have had romantic feelings for each other they never truly acted on it and Sally has always taken her role as princess and freedom-fighter very seriously, in direct opposition to Sonic's more laidback attitude - which has caused more than a few arguments between the two: in general though she is good-natured if slightly stubborn despite her beauty and does what she believes is right for Mobius.
