General Samuel "Sam" Lane is the tritagonist of the CW television series Superman & Lois. He is a general of the Department of Defense and the father of Lois and Lucy Lane. He is also the maternal grandfather of Jonathan and Jordan Kent and the father-in-law of Clark Kent. After the defeat of Tal-Rho, Sam temporarily took a leave absence for a vacation, but it soon ended when he was forced to act as a mediator between Lucy and Lois and helping Jordan with his conflicts.
Sam is portrayed by Dylan Walsh.

Sam Lane was born to a woman named Natalie and an unnamed male. He eventually joined the military, where he became a general and the Director of the Department of Defense.

Personality[]
Unlike his Earth-Prime counterpart, Sam is not prejudice against superheroes or aliens and works along well with Superman, well aware that he is his son-in-law, Clark Kent. He considers Superman the most powerful being and important person in the world. Some of his methods of parenting got on Lois' nerves, especially when he told her how she and Clark should raise their sons. However, Sam still cares about his family and starts to put them before his career.

- Expert hand to hand combatant: During Sam's time in the military, he was well trained in hand-to-hand combat.
- Expert marksman: During Sam's time in the military, he was trained in the use of firearms.

- ELT: Sam uses an object similar to a signal watch to call Superman when he wants help.
- Kryptonite gas: Sam used kryptonite gas to stop Emily Phan and a man when they invaded the Kent Farm.
