Samantha Fraser is one of the two deuteragonists (alongside Josh Johnson) of the Netflix dark horror film Fear Street trilogy.
She is portrayed by Olivia Scott Welch who also portrays Hannah Miller in Fear Street: 1666.
Overview[]
A cheerleader of Sunnyvale high school, the self-insecure Samatha Fraser is an only child whose parents got divorced which forces her to move and complicates her relationship. After a car accident caused her to absorb the memories of Sarah Fier and she is a victim targeted by the killers, and later loses her soul which she gets back with the help of Deena, Josh, C. Berman, and Martin Franklin by killing Goode.
Biography[]
In the beginning of the first film of 1994, she gets into a car accident then her nose bleeds before touching the bones of Sarah Fier which allowed her to see glimpse of her memories in her head. This causes her to be hospitalized and when Deena comes to visit her she realizes that the witch’s undead minions are targeting Sam for disrupting Sarah Fier’s grave. The first Fear Street film sees Deena, her friends Kate, Simon, and Josh attempting to save Sam from the curse. By the end, Deena and Sam are back together. Deena believes the curse is broken until Sam becomes possessed by Sarah Fier and attempts to kill Deena. The final moments of the film show Deena vowing to bring her girlfriend back from the witch’s clutches, setting the stage for the next two movies.
Between Fear Street: 1978 and 1666, She and Josh visits C. Berman's house for help on where to find the hand of Sarah Fier and reunites it with the rest of her corpse attempting to end the witch's curse. Only to have her spirit send back in time into Sarah Fier's body to relive her life in 1666 to realize the truth about her ex-fiancé Solomon Goode the ancestor of Nick Goode who made a deal with the Devil through the book of Satan to possess and kill the pastor Cyrus Miller, and framed Sarah as a witch for the town to hang her but not before she eternally vowed to have Goode true nature to be revealed. Deena returns to the present and sets out a plan with her friends to kill Goode and end his deal with the Devil once and for all to save Shadyside. The killers follows Deena's blood and uses it to distract them from her long enough for the others to defend her while she goes after Goode, reciting the memories of Sarah to tracking him through the caves and gets tackled by possessed Sam until she subdues her and eventually confronts Goode. She is pin down by him who would frame her for the murder of her allies and get away with it, but Deena hears a whisper of Sarah Fier's voice from the heart of the Devil and in effort places Goode's hand on it to have him see to victims ever been harmed by him and his family before. Which distracted him for Sarah though Deena's body to stab him in the eye causing all the killer to vanish, Sam's soul is restored. She and Deena are seen together at Sarah Fier grave.

- Memory Absorption: In the events of the first film, Sam bled over the bones of Sarah Fier's and she began to see glimpses of her memories in her mind. This also caused her to be tracked by the Shadyside killers through her blood due to it carrying Sarah spirit's signature, and the group temporarily stops her heart by drowning her before sticking the adrenaline pens to her chest. Afterwards Sam is revived and loses this ability, becoming normal again.
Possessed by Black Magic: After reversing the memories of Sarah Fier, Sam gets her soul possessed by the Devil due to Nick Goode's knowledge of dark arts. This granted her the following characteristics before she was restored after Goode was killed:
- Killing Instinct: Sam corrupted soul, has the aggression to kill anyone around especially those who carries Sarah’s spirit signature.
- Blood Sense: Another trait of being possessed, She can sense the exact position of where someone who has touched Fier's corpse and absorb her memories then goes after Deena in the caves.
Abilities[]
- Strong-Willed: In the first Fear Street, Sam is very headstrong in the most dangerous of events such as when she was willing to sacrifice her own life for her friends to live, then had courage to stop her heart temporarily until Deena revived her which was successfully done. Even while under the Devil's influence, Sam was shown to have willpower over her body’s aggressive urges. As shown when tackling Deena near the Devil’s heart in the tunnels, she starred at her and remembers her and briefly stops herself from attacking.
- Cheerleading: As a cheerleader of Sunnyvale high school, Sam has displayed self-confidence in her own being.
