There is NO ONE holy the Lord; There is no one besides you; there is no rock like our God
~ 1 Samuel 2:2

Samuel is a major figure in the Bible, serving as the titular overarching protagonist in the Book of Samuel.

He originally started out as the helper to the priest of Shiloh Eli as opposed to both his rebellious sons who were anything but faithful, Samuel would get a call from God to be his new prophet, which he did. By the time he had grown too old, the people of Israel wanted him to make a king to rule over them and he reluctantly did, he first crowned a man named Saul, but when he proved unfit to rule, he then crowned a young boy named David who trusted God as much as he did to be the next lineage of royalty over the land.

Biography[]

Early Life[]

Samuel was born the only child of a woman named Hannah who was also the second wife of the man Elkanah who lived at Ramathaimin the district of Zuph, he was born as such because Hannah prayed to the lord for a child of her own which was mainly due to her being a sterile. When he was 12 years old, his mother decided to put her in the care of Eli, the high priest of Shiloh, because it was him who let God know she was with her, and for a time she would visit him while he works in the Tabernacle, unaware of the great destiny God has in store for him.

Answering his first call[]

One day after long hours of work in the Tabernacle, Samuel called it a night and fell asleep right next to the Ark of the Covenant, but as he was sleeping he heard a voice calling his name and quickly got up, initially assuming it was coming from Eli he went to Eli's room to ask what he wanted, the gentlemanly priest, however, made it clear he didn't & sent the confused boy back to sleep. After this happened two more times, Eli realised that the voice calling him was the Lord's, and instructed Samuel on how to answer, and when he did, God told him that the wickedness of the sons of Eli had resulted in their dynasty being condemned to destruction.

In the morning, Samuel was hesitant about reporting the message to Eli, but when Eli asked him to honestly recount to him what he had been told by the Lord. Upon receiving the communication, Eli merely said that the Lord should do what seems right unto him.

Years of service[]
