Samuel Rodrigues, also known as Jetstream Sam, is one of the two secondary antagonists (alongside Sundowner) of the 2013 video game Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance, and the titular main protagonist of his own DLC.

He is a cyborg who initially helps the Desprado LLC to achieve their goals by starting a war again, but eventually he begin to doubts about his deeds and decides to redeem himself by helping Raiden and giving his own sword after their fight to stop Senator Armstrong from achieving his evil and atrocious goal.

Biography[]

Past[]

Samuel's father had a dojo which his family learned the swordsmanship in it. By time, Sam became very violent and aggressive. By order of a drug leaders, Sam's father was killed by a gang which made sam even more violent. Sam took his father's sword and went to went to avenge his father's death which succeeds, then he leaves Brazil forever.

The death of Sam's father didn't leave his mind, and that made him more powerful even taking 10 men of mob by himself using only his sword. Sam liked to futhermore enhance his abilities, so he wore an exoskeleton suit which granted him near-superhuman abilities and modified his sword into high-frequency blade which had enormous cutting power.

Joining Desprado[]

By that time, Sam heard of Senator Armstrong's arrangements with the world marshall PMC. Armstrong and Monsoon (one of his henchmen in the unit) has invited Sam to meet him at the Denver, in hopes to recruit him and making him one of his men. Sam snuck to World Marshall Base through sewers, before encountering the LQ-84i Prototype.

Sam and the prototype engage a fight resulting the prototype's defeat. Sam says that Blade Wolf wasn't bad. After some running. Sam finally arrived at the area he had been tasked, where he meets monsoon. Monsoon drops a smoke grenade and disappears immediately, as the Metal Gear Ray shows up, only for sam to take it down with cold blood. Shortly after, Armstrong calls Sam to meet him at the top floor where he faces Armstrong himself, who powers himself with the nanomachines by numerous vehicles that surrounded him . Sam forciblly fight Armstrong where at the end he cuts Armstrong's right hand, but Armtrong uses the pionted stump at Sam, only to stab Sam's right arm and immensly damaging it. Sam, who admired the Senator's causes, agrees to join Desprado, and becoming a very prominent and popular hitman and member in it.

Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance[]

Desprado launches an attack lead by Sam and Sundowner at N'mani and his forces. Sam passes the forces easily, reaching N'mani himself only for Sundowner to capture him and escape. Raiden effortily follows Sundowner in order to save the minister only to encounter Sam on the train, Raiden engages a sword duel with Sam. At the middle of the fight, Sam injures Raiden's left eye. At the end, Raiden charges a swordslash on him, Sam, learned from his mistake from his fight with Armstrong, cuts Raiden's left arm, leaving a flat end in the cut arm, making Raiden dizzy and unconcious. Raiden slips off the train and grips at the edge with his full arm, but Sam is getting ready to finish him as he raises his sword to make a fetal attack on Raiden, but the roof of the tunnel terminates, making Sam exposed to the PMSC forces, which forces Sam to escape and retreat.

When Raiden was following Monsoon to his base, Sam taunts him through big screens and asks him what is his definition of justice, Implying that the cyborgs who killed are actually people, But Raiden answers him that these people have chosen their fate by themselves, But Sam says that they believe in Desprado's causes, which led them to join. As Raiden reached the World Marshal base, Sam came out and confronted Raiden. Raiden as he was in the ''Jack the Ripper'' State, Which concerns Sam to fight him, but Monsoon stops him and tells him to keep Armstrong alerted.

Death[]

When Raiden was heading to Solis to stop operation Tecumseh Terrorism, he runs into Sam which is seen talking to Blade Wolf. Raiden taunts Sam as he says as an assassin he doesn't to his job very well, but Sam replies that the war is the real goal. The two prepared to the one final duel.

After a long fight, Raiden finishes off Sam by impaling him with his sword, but before his death, he winks to Blade Wolf, then he falls dead. Raiden takes Sam's sword as a prize for defeating it's original owner.

Legacy[]

As Armstrong was about about to finish Raiden in a deadly fight, Blade Wolf shows up lifting Sam's sword, and plays a record in his memory which Sam says in it that he doubts his path in the Desprado LLC, Which Armstrong replies that he was a very annoying perosn even after his death, then Blade Wolf throws Sam's sword to Raiden which Armstrong fails to catch. Raiden emerges Sam's sword of it's sheath and decides to use it as a ''Tool of Justice'', Even quoting him (''Let's Dance'') and making Sam's fight-preparing pose before fighting Armstrong. Raiden engages a deadly fight with Armstrong with gains the upper hand using Sam's sword to impale Armstrong to the abdomen, and cut through his heart, ultimately making him end the fight victoriously.
