Samwell Tarly is a major character in A Song of Ice and Fire and Game of Thrones. He is a steward of the Night's Watch. He is the disinherited firstborn son of Lord Randyll Tarly and Melessa Florent. He is 15 years old during the first novel, and 18 years old during the first season.
He is portrayed by John Bradley-West.
Samwell Tarly is a kind man and always has intentions and has a willingness to help people best to his ability, but unfortunately Sam is not a talented fighter and he's a coward, also he has proven to be incompetent when it comes to simple every day tasks that brothers of the wall do every day, such as cleaning, cooking, training for battle, and keeping guard over the wall.
But Sam's years of reading has proven useful since he has knowledge of the past history of the wall and when things get dangerous Sam will to survive makes him stronger and much more helpful.
