Sana Futaba is one of the main playable characters in the 2017 mobile game Puella Magi Madoka Magica Side Story: Magia Record, a spin-off of the anime Puella Magi Madoka Magica.
She is voiced by Yui Ogura in Japanese (who also voiced Priestess from Goblin Slayer) and by Ryan Bartley in the English dub in anime adaptation (who also voiced Makomo from Demon Slayer series and Sage from Sonic Frontiers).
Personality[]
A gentle, timid, and overly pessimistic Magical Girl who is often ridden with feelings of inadequacy due to how long she's been ostracized by her family and peers, Sana has low self-esteem and is often shy around others. In spite of how antisocial she is, Sana is still willing to help others and is happy to serve quietly by their side when they need it. She also loves cats greatly. However, Sana's Doppel, Theresia, reveals a duality in her personality, with one side representing her self-blame and loathing and another expressing a desire to inflict punishment on others to takeout her feelings of resentment and negativity on them.
Powers and Abilities[]
Due to the nature of her wish, Sana is completely invisible and silent to humans, though this doesn't apply to other magical girls. Her form of invisibility can be used to help her escape from perilous situations or to obscure her image from other people to keep them oblivious to her presence, this form of invisibility can't even be detected as her magical signatures are also obscured. It is unknown if Sana can make others invisible through enchantment or through physical contact but one can assume if she learnt to do this it would be possible for her ability to extend to others around her.
Sana is able to utilize her shield for self-defense and Sana herself is already quite armoured, allowing for increased endurance during battle or allowing her a better chance to protect her allies. Her shield is also able to summon various instruments with lethal capabilities such as pendulums with axes on the end, drills, pliers, chains and many more weapons. She can seemingly summon these instruments on a whim. When her soul gem turns black, her doppel, Theresia, appears. Theresia is a notoriously dangerous doppel as one side of it contains a large axe which can be spun around by the doppel very quickly to kill any would-be opponents. The doppel can also summon spiked shields to send forth at its enemies to attack them with as well, though the primary threat is the liquid the doppel always secretes as it can quickly gather into masses around foes which can render them immobile. The liquid damages its enemies over time and eventually explodes, taking their targets with it.
