Sandy Olsson (known as Sandy Dumbrowski in the musical) is the girlfriend of Danny Zuko and the female protagonist of the musical Grease and it's 1978 film adaption.
She is portrayed in the film by the late Olivia Newton-John.

Sandy was originally from Australia and was visiting America with her parents in the summer of 1958 and met and fell in love with Danny.
When Sandy's parents decided to stay in America, Sandy enrolled at Rydell High School where she befriended another girl named Frenchy, a member of a group of girls at the school called The Pink Ladies. Sandy tells The Pink Ladies about her summer romance with Danny, who the lead Pink Lady Rizzo knows as he also goes to Rydell High and is leader of a group of boys called The T Birds. The Pink Ladies take Sandy to meet with Danny. At first, the two are happy to see each other, but Sandy becomes annoyed when Danny starts to use his bad boy attitude towards her in front of his friends, causing Sandy to storm off, followed by the equally unimpressed Pink Ladies.
To cheer up Sandy,Frenchy invites her to come to a slumber party with the other Pink Ladies. However whilst there, Sandy becomes ill from drinking, trying a cigarette for the first time and Frenchy piercing her ears. At school, Sandy starts a relationship with a jock named Tom. Danny takes up running in am attempt to win Sandy back. It nearly works until the other T-Birds crash the reunion.
At Rydell High's school dance, Sandy and Danny take part before Sandy is pulled away by another T-Bird named Sonny whilst Danny dances with Cha-Cha (the girlfriend of Leo, the leader of the T-Birds' rivals The Scorpions). Sandy is upset by this and leaves. To make it up to Sandy, Danny takes her to a drive-in theater, however Sandy leaves annoyed when Danny wishes to make out with her.
Sandy later watches the T-Birds and the Scorpions have a car race, to which Danny wins against Leo. Concluding that she still loves Danny, Sandy to impress him by changing her look and attitude and asks Frenchy to help her do this.
On the last day of school, Sandy (now a Greaser girl) approachs Danny at a fair. Danny is smitten by Sandy's new appearance and the pair officially become a couple and sing "You're The One That I Want". As everyone sings "We Go Together", Sandy and Danny drive into the sky in Danny's car.
Grease 2[]
She does not reappear in the 1982 sequel, but is mentioned to be the cousin of the film's male protagonist Michael Carrington.
