Sarah Elizabeth Routledge (née Cameron) is the tritagonist of the Netflix TV Show Outer Banks.
She is an aristocratic girl from a billionaire and aristocratic family, and she is popular for being called “Kook Princess”, being part of them, but in reality there is a lot of rebelliousness and extravagance in her, and even if she is despised by the Pogues for being a Kook, she soon becomes part of the group and goes on adventures with them, especially to fall in love with John B and after discovering that her father, Ward Cameron is a manipulative and psychopathic murderer who wants gold.
She is portrayed by Madelyn Cline.
Personality[]
Sarah initially acts as an eccentric and lonely millionaire, vain and extroverted. In reality, she has a strong internal conflict; feeling immense insecurities, not knowing who to trust, since she discovers that her family is evil, and her friends will help her, but she does not know if it would be exactly the right thing, since she knows that it would change her life forever. She is strongly loyal to the people she loves, for her friends she will do anything. At first she is a bit angry with Kiara because they argued about a birthday issue, but then thanks to a trick of John B they manage to make peace. She remains deeply disturbed to discover the truth about her father, but despite having understood that he is cruel, she continues to love him anyway, even if she is independent from him and the other members of her family and prefers adventure, another reason why she joins the Pudges. She can be kind, affectionate, altruistic, thoughtful and sweet towards others, but she can also assert herself with a snarky way when someone speaks badly of her. She can also be witty and sarcastic at times and can also create the atmosphere. She also loves nature, and she cares about the ambients.
History[]
Early Years[]
Sarah was born into the billionaire Cameron family in a coast of Figure Eight, as the middle sister, after Rafe and before Wheezie, from her father, Ward Cameron who is a self-made entrepreneur having built the family business all by himself and without anything, who she says that he was like John B when he was younger, and from a mother with whom Ward divorced, and with this she has a somewhat tense relationship with all the members of her family, but she says that she could not imagine her life without them because she loves them very much.
She is in fact part of the members of the "Kooks", even called "Kook Princess", she has had many boyfriends before the series, but she has never managed to make even one of them last, even if for a while she is with Topper, also a Kook. For this reason, as she reveals to John B, she often chases away boys. When she was in eighth grade, she had a best friend relationship with Kiara Carrera, but then they stopped speaking when Sarah started to be claustrophobic.
Season 1[]
Sarah is romantically dating Topper, even though he loves her, she doesn't really feel the same way. At one point, John B, who has found gold, is forced to ask Sarah for help, but although she is initially reluctant because they are not part of the same "tribe", she accepts mainly because she wants more adventure in her life. She then falls in love with him after some time spent together, and John B also realizes that he has feelings for her.
At first, the others would welcome her into the Pudges group, except Kiara, because of their past friendship, but after a trick by John B, leaving them on a broken boat for a whole day, they become friends again. She breaks up with Topper and starts dating John B (Topper is jealous of him and wants him out of the way). She helps him with the gold hunt and his father adopts him, to get rid of the social workers. Sarah doesn't know who to trust after her father sticks a blade in her arm and blames John B for what happened and he even tries to take Sarah with her for possible benefits, but John B comes to save her, Sarah goes with him and Sheriff Peterkin who found out everything, arrives on the scene and tries to arrest him, but she is killed by Rafe, who had been kicked out by her father for a mistake he had made and Ward accuses John B of the murder putting the whole island under surveillance.
Sarah desperately tries to reveal the truth to everyone since she knows that her brother Rafe is the real killer, but no one believes her (especially because of her father who is a good liar), and so she decides to escape with a Pope boat with John B away from the island. The boat capsizes and they almost die since there is a storm, but a ship doesn't save them and offers to take them to the nearest dock so they can continue with their escape and search, with everyone at Figure Eight believing them dead.
