Scarface Squadron are the main and supporting protagonists of the video games Air Combat and Ace Combat 2, as well as the latter game's remake, Ace Combat: Assault Horizon Legacy. They are a mercenary team of the world's greatest pilots who were involved in at least two armed conflicts in Usea.
History[]
Air Combat[]
The Scarface Squadron was formed in 1995 after FCU's southern forces commander Robert Tyler hired 17 mercenaries from around the world to defeat the insurgents who took over the Skully Islands. Led by Phoenix, the squadron defeated the rebel forces and destroyed their Sky Fortress, ensuring that stability returned to the region. The squadron was then disbanded and its pilots left.
Ace Combat 2/Assault Horizon Legacy[]
During the Usean coup d'etat, the Usean Allied Forces had to call upon mercenary pilots to stand a chance against the rebels. The Scarface Squadron was reformed, now consisting of only three pilots - Phoenix, Kei Nagase and John Herbert, - and an AWACS codenamed "Keynote". The pilots successfully performed one operation after another, pushing the rebels back and finally defeating them at Fortress Intolerance.
