Biography[]
Abdallah El-Faouly, a well-known archaeologist, was the father of Layla Abdallah El-Faouly, who was born in Egypt on October 28, 1994. El-Faouly visited several black markets while working as an archaeologist, claiming she was there to buy stolen antiquities so she could give them back to their rightful owners. She formed an alliance with Lagaro, an impostor with ties to her father, during this time. She also went to Madripoor, where she met Anton Mogart and got to know him.
El-Faouly learned that her father had been killed when an attack took place on an Egyptian dig site. El-Faouly was approached by Marc Spector when he was grieving, and they fell in love. After their marriage, she got to know his parents. Together, they embarked on endless journeys and started looking for the Scarab of Ammit. She also learned that he had a Moon Knight persona. But after months of ignoring her calls and messages, Spector finally said he wanted a divorce and left her life. When El-Faouly attempted to call Spector's phone once more one day and got an answer, she became concerned for his welfare and was shocked that he didn't recognize her. El-Faouly's call confused the person on the other end, who questioned her about why she insisted on calling him "Marc". El-Faouly was perplexed as well and quickly ended the contact by hanging up.
El-Faouly utilized a motorcycle to travel from the location where the phone was found to London, England. Outside the Central London Storage, she discovered a man who appeared to be Marc Spector lying on the ground. She lifted him up and informed him that whatever he was evading was no longer there. She warned him not to grab onto her shoulders as they rode away and questioned him about his accent. Even though El-Faouly wanted to speak to Spector normally, when they got back to his apartment, Spector continued the performance. El-Faouly then produced the divorce documents for Spector to sign.
He asserted that he would never divorce her, nevertheless. She was conversing with Steven Grant, Spector's alter, even though she thought he was Spector. Two investigators arrived out of nowhere. While Grant was being taken, El-Faouly hid behind the chimney. Then she went after him. After two Disciples of Ammit abducted Steven Grant, El-Faouly tracked Grant's whereabouts once more and confronted Arthur Harrow, showing him the Scarab of Ammit. Then she went to Grant and requested that he call his suit. Harrow called forth an Egyptian jackal before he could reply, and the two escaped.
El-Faouly fought against one of the followers as they fled. She quickly locked the door of an upper room behind Grant. Grant was prompted to call his suit once more after she assured him that they would solve his dilemma together. She was unable to witness the Jackal enter the room, but she did see Grant being tossed out of the window. She went outside and attempted to aid Grant in fending off the Jackal even though she couldn't see it when she saw him dressed differently than usual. El-Faouly informed Grant that they needed Spector as the Jackal grew too strong, and he then permitted Spector to transform into Moon Knight in order to defeat the Jackal.
El-Faouly then took back her scooter in an attempt to locate Spector, but instead discovered Harrow walking along an alley with the Scarab in her possession. She spotted Harrow and sped off in her car. El-Faouly discovered that her spouse had left for Egypt without notifying her by using the tracking app on her phone to find him. El-Faouly met Lagaro at her workplace to give her a fabricated phony passport so they could travel there. Marc Spector was located by El-Faouly in a street market in Cairo, Egypt. When she discovered that he was looking for Senfu's sarcophagus, she informed him that she knew where to find it.
To get to a different area of Cairo, El-Faouly and Spector boarded a boat. He responded that he believed he had the situation under control when El-Faouly said she may have assisted him while they rode. The music on the boat reminded them of their wedding, and she clutched his hands as he thought back on it. El-Faouly and Spector noticed another boat following the boat as it landed. They concluded that the passengers were Ammit's Disciples eavesdropping on them. El-Faouly informed Spector that he would go by the name Rufino Estrada and that they had just returned from a honeymoon in the Maldives as they approached the estate.
Bek then appeared and welcomed them, telling El-Faouly that it was good to see her again. Since their time together in Madripoor, he said they were glad to see her. Then he escorted them to the arena where they saw Anton Mogart riding a horse and practicing El-Mermah. Then, as is customary, Mogart greeted El-Faouly and kissed her hand. He questioned them why they were interested in Senfu's sarcophagus after being introduced to Spector. El-Faouly explained that Mogart had taken them there because they were interested in its history.
She and Spector entered the exhibit once they arrived to view it. El-Faouly looked at the tomb but couldn't make sense of the translations. Spector informed her that he required some time to complete this task since he wanted Steven Grant to interpret the translations. El-Faouly stepped outdoors to divert Mogart and Bek after telling him she would buy time. She engaged them in conversation in an effort to divert their focus away from Spector. This was unsuccessful because Bek noticed that Spector was engaged in activities other than simply examining the sarcophagus.
El-Faouly was being held at gunpoint by Bek and a few other security personnel as Mogart stormed inside and faced Spector. She attempted to clarify their goals, but Mogart interrupted her by warning them that a third party was approaching. She and Spector viewed Arthur Harrow and his supporters as they approached. She gave him a perplexed look as he continued by telling them that Spector was hiding something from El-Faouly. The group then saw as Harrow gave Mogart the Staff of Ammit and used it to demolish the sarcophagus. El-Faouly realized Spector had left as well after Harrow and his men had left. When she turned to look, she noticed that he had changed into the Moon Knight.
He slid down and covered her and himself with his suit to protect them from the gunshots. He then started fighting with Mogart's troops. El-Faouly returned to the sarcophagus to examine its ruins but was met by Bek. Bek fought against her vehemently after attempting to stop her. She was thrown into the exhibit's side once he acquired the upper hand. She was able to stand up in a fury and stab him in the chest with the metal clasps on her blouse. Following the battle, she attempted to exit the building to watch Spector in the arena but was attacked by Mogart and knocked to the ground.
Mogart was about to kill her as she was struggling to gather her breath when Spector used one of his Crescent Blades to stop him. El-Faouly was then helped up as they left the estate. El-Faouly and Marc Spector drove to the edge of the desert in search of stars. El-Faouly questioned Spector about Arthur Harrow's menacing assertions regarding a secret that he had concealed from her while they were traveling. El-Faouly became agitated and started accusing Spector of hiding too many secrets and doubting that she ever knew him at all before Spector abruptly interrupted the session. Spector had initially dismissed El-Faouly's questions as merely Harrow trying to split them.
El-Faouly and Spector stepped out of the Jeep when they arrived at the Siwa Oasis and started to try and piece together the cartonnage. But Spector couldn't, and El-Faouly informed him that they needed Steven Grant. Spector used the side mirror from the Jeep that he had torn off to transform into Grant. Grant then dazzled El-Faouly with his navigational expertise. They figure out that the cartonnage can be used to locate constellations, but the task would be impossible after 2,000 years because the stars' positions would have migrated and altered. Grant, who had been changed into Mr. Knight, was fortunately helped by Khonshu, who provided his ability to turn the sky back to its proper positions in exchange for informing the Ennead.
She observed as the night sky started to reverse backward and change quickly. El-Faouly is quick to determine the location of Ammit's tomb as Grant and Khonshu invert the sky. Following Khonshu's punishment, the phenomenon exhausts Grant, who is now without the healing armor, forcing him to lose consciousness. El-Faouly tried to assist him in standing up but was unsuccessful. They are about to be killed when the pickup truck behind them, which is being driven by two Disciples of Ammit, pulls up. El-Faouly noticed this and attempted to help Grant stand up, but was unsuccessful, so he pushed Grant into a dunes away from the approaching truck.
The militant cultists were then avoided by El-Faouly, who used the nighttime darkness to her advantage to shield herself from shooting. El-Faouly stumbled to their Jeep and crept inside the back to hide while he grabbed flares after spotting an exposed box of ammunition in the bed of their truck. El-Faouly deceives the cultists by leading them to her with a flare, then diving under the Jeep while getting ready to fire a second flare onto the explosive ammo crate. To Grant's amazement, who had just woken up, this results in the munitions exploding, setting the truck on fire, and murdering the cultists.
El-Faouly took Steven Grant to the specified spot when morning arrived. She overheard him talking to Marc Spector along the road and learned that they had agreed to part ways once they were rescued from Khonshu. El-Faouly intervened, claiming that as Spector's wife, she ought to have a role in the matter. El-Faouly stopped the Jeep when he reached a particularly constricting section and then continued to walk the remaining distance. She and Grant soon discovered an abandoned camp that the Disciples of Ammit had established with their camels. Grant was then instructed to search the tents for anything useful by her.
She entered a tent and got harnesses for Grant and herself. She looked throughout the tent but couldn't discover anything significant, so she went outside and met Grant near the entrance. She noticed Grant smelled like Spector as she strapped on the harness for herself and Grant. Grant suddenly cut her off as she was about to kiss him and remarked that Spector was trying to keep her at a distance because Khonshu had considered her as a potential Avatar for him. She expressed surprise before saying that Spector shouldn't have made the decision. Grant then gave her a kiss. After that, she grinned as he made an uncomfortable attempt at a joke. She then entered the tomb using her harness to descend.
El-Faouly safely landed on the ground and started exploring. Grant eventually joined her after collapsing very violently. Grant remarked that if her father were still alive, he would be grinning at her as she addressed him. El-Faouly grinned as she detected Grant's advances toward her. Grant noticed that the tomb was shaped like an eye as they moved farther inside. When he drew it, the Eye of Horus appeared. He postulated that the tomb they were hunting for belonged to Alexander the Great because the marks looked to be Macedonian. They understood that the ushabti would be in the mouth because of this.
Grant then noticed that the hallway leading out of the room they were in was covered in blood and bones. They searched for another exit because they didn't want to travel that way. Grant discovered a higher level of the chamber as they continued. El-Faouly assisted him in rising while staying on the ground. She prompted him to remember to hunt for an exit as he became distracted while exploring above. However, they were frightened by sounds coming from the tomb. Grant instructed El-Faouly to hide when he heard footsteps approaching. On the opposite side of the table in the middle, she hid on the ground. Billy Fitzgerald was placed on the table by a Heka Priest before being sacrificed. El-Faouly hid her mouth in fear as she saw the Heka Priest use implements to remove Fitzgerald's heart. The Priest leapt upon the table when he discovered her and noticed Grant as well. She hurled something at it when it tried to pursue Grant, forcing herself to flee along the route they were trying to avoid. El-Faouly managed to avoid falling after finding herself on a cliff. She then lit a flare and flung it into the shadows below. She then gently made her way across the ledge to the opposite side. She was startled when pieces of the ledge behind her tumbled.
She gently crossed another gap in the pathway and supported herself against the walls. However, she was startled and tripped over when a Heka Priest's hand suddenly materialized behind her. She approached another entrance, but the Priest abruptly grabbed her and pulled her backward in a horrifying manner. She was thrown by the Priest into the ground of another road, where she noticed that his hand was already holding hers. She threw it aside in astonishment when she realized she had taken it off, just as the Priest started strangling her. The Priest was struck in the head with a flare stick that El-Faouly was able to snag from her pocket.
She moved to push it over the side of the ledge as she watched it instantly get destroyed, but inadvertently plummeted as well. She had managed to pull herself back up, though, by grabbing hold of ridges, and she had then laid down to get some air. El-Faouly stood to see what Arthur Harrow intended after he soon appeared on her opposite side. She cut him off by asking what he wanted after he praised her for fighting the Heka Priest. She responded by telling him she was already aware of the secret Spector was concealing from her. She became agitated as he continued to describe another.
Then he revealed to her that Spector had taken part in the mission that killed her father and that he had been aware of it. After hearing this, El-Faouly became upset and hurried off to find Spector. After arriving at the spot, she discovered herself inside the tomb. She confronted Grant while overcome with emotion and requested that Spector be called. When he arrived, she questioned him about being present when her father passed away. She pressed him to explain why he was there and why he hadn't told her. He said that although he had attempted to save her father, his partner had also shot him and that Khonshu had rescued him.
They were about to proceed when Harrow and his followers showed up. Spector refused El-Faouly's request to accompany her as they fled, telling her to leave. El-Faouly listened to the argument between Spector and Harrow while hiding in a small passageway. She heard gunshots to her dismay and saw Spector had been shot. Despite being deeply distraught, she tried to keep quiet by covering her lips. Before approaching Spector, El-Faouly waited until Arthur Harrow and his supporters had left. She sobbed as she checked his pulse but detected none, resting her head on his chest in sorrow.
When she realized the Scarab of Ammit had been abandoned, she used it to determine Harrow's destination. She left the tomb and caught up to them, determined to have revenge on him. She assumed the identity of one of his supporters and boarded their last car. She displayed a concealed knife when Harrow's supporters were stopped by the Egyptian Patrol Agency, intending to assassinate Harrow. In possession of a deceased officer's body, Taweret communicated with El-Faouly, warning her that Harrow was too strong to stop on her own and urging her to track down and free Khonshu so he could revive Spector.
El-Faouly split off from the group in quest of Khonshu's ushabti after Harrow breached the Great Pyramid of Giza and entered the Chamber of Gods. Khonshu asked El-Faouly to serve as his Avatar after being freed and commented that he could no longer feel Spector. She objected, saying that they could work together without her being forced into servitude. While Khonshu battled her and Arthur Harrow freed Ammit, El-Faouly hid. She found the severely hurt Selim after the fight was over and Harrow had departed.
He questioned her about releasing Khonshu and informed her that Ammit could be stopped with a spell, but more Avatars were required. Then El-Faouly yelled to Taweret for assistance. Taweret welcomed El-Faouly with enthusiasm while inhabiting Selim's body. El-Faouly accepted her offer to become her avatar, which led her to find that her father had entered the Field of Reeds through an enthused Taweret before changing into the Scarlet Scarab and collapsing the chamber around her. El-Faouly used her newly discovered abilities to fly to Cairo while enjoying her new identity as the Scarlet Scarab.
She met Marc Spector there, who she helped in his battle with Arthur Harrow and his supporters. She pushed Harrow away and found Spector again, marveling at his continued existence. They were compelled to resume fighting and demonstrating their new abilities as Steven Grant made a remark about what she was wearing. El-Faouly was successful in pinning Harrow against a wall during the altercation and attempted to shatter his cane.
But he sent Spector and her flying. He used his cane to blast a nearby van carrying people when they tried again. El-Faouly ran over to protect them but was injured when her wing was pinched. She then saw as Spector came dangerously close to being vanquished by Harrow before quickly joining in and defeating Harrow and his supporters. Despite Spector's claims that he was unaware of what had occurred, she was astonished by his behavior when he approached her. After bringing Harrow's comatose body back to the Great Pyramid of Giza, El-Faouly and Spector performed a ritual there in order to imprison Ammit in Harrow's body. Khonshu joined them and gave the order to kill Harrow and Ammit to Spector. El-Faouly persuaded Spector, though, that he was free to reject Khonshu's advice and make his own choices.
