Señor Barriga (in original Zenón Barriga y Pesado) (in English: Mr. Beliarge) (in Portuguese: Senhor Barriga) is the overarching protagonist of the Mexican sitcom El Chavo del Ocho. he is the owner of the village who collects the rent personally since he didn't want to pay a collector

He was played by actor Édgar Vivar, who also played Ñoño, the son of Señor Barriga. In the animated series, he is voiced by Víctor Delgado (from the first to fifth seasons) and later Sebastián Llapur (from the fifth to seventh seasons), who also voiced Quico in said series.

Character[]

At the beginning of the classic series in 1972, Barriga was not known by name but as "Mister". Over time, the character's story has changed: The rich owner of the village who, in order to save a collector's salary, goes to the village to collect rent from tenants. In 1974, the son of Señor Barriga, Ñoño.

Señor Barriga says that he was once poor, and that he was born in a house in the same village that he now owns. But that house no longer exists, because it collapsed. As he made money, he got rich and bought the village. He currently lives on Rua Cachalote, on the corner of Rua Baleia, in Vila dos Elefantes.

Señor Barriga, always when he arrives in the neighborhood to collect the rent, has to deal with many problems: right at the entrance, he always gets a hit from Chavo. Then he has to collect the rent from swindler Don Ramón, a tenant who never pays what he owes.

Despite this, Señor Barriga never dumped him (but he has threatened a few times). And even with Chaves's painful blows, he never hit him (but he already tried to scare him by pretending to be a ghost). Barriga's heart is even bigger: he has already taken Chavo on a trip to Acapulco and welcomed and hosted the neighborhood in his own home at Christmas time.

Barriga lives suffering offenses due to his weight: especially children do not save mockery. Like other characters, Señor Barriga does not lack nicknames in relation to his appearance, in this case, because he is fat, he is mocked for his weight, calling him a "standing barrel", "splattered lard", or mockery in the context of the conversation they are having.
