Senko is the deuteragonist in the 2017 manga The Helpful Fox Senko-san (Sewayaki Kitsune no Senko-san) and its 2019 anime adaptation.
She is voiced by Azumi Waki in the original Japanese version and Kristen McGuire in the English dub.
Biography
Senko is an 800-year-old fox demigod who is tasked with "pampering" salaryman Kuroto Nakano after he had developed a "darkness." Apparently, Senko had been familiar with the Nakano family to the point that she had a relationship with Kuroto's ancestor and it is implied that part of her devotion to Kuroto is her belief that he was her former master reincarnated. While unconfirmed, it is heavily suggested through context that something tragic happened to her former master that had effected her deeply.
For the most part, Senko is devoted to removing the darkness from Kuroto's stressful life which often manifests in her cooking for him, doing his laundry, and ultimately spoiling him. Senko likens herself to being Kuroto's wife and mother, and despite her Lolita-appearance, she tends to act like her chronological age. This would often lead to her having difficulties: because of her old way of thinking, Senko would unwittingly find herself in trouble such as when she tried to clean the house using modern-day machines.
A continuous running gag is Kuroto's obsession with Senko's ears and tail which she allows him to fluff. Senko also tends to do work outside the apartment room she shares with Kuroto such as by helping their neighbor Yasuko Koenji with cooking, cleaning, and taking out the trash. She also tends to dress up in cosplay outfits for her.
