Sentinel Knight is the overarching protagonist of Power Rangers Operation Overdrive.
He is a powerful and ancient mystical warrior who acted as the guardian of a powerful crown known as the Corona Aurora to ensure it could never fall into the wrong hands, but after two thieves tried & failed to steal it, he turned them both into monsters & locked them away on distant planets before scattering the crown's jewels across earth during the time all of it's continents were just one. But millions of years later, after a young archeologist named Andrew Hartford found the crown, inadvertently summoning numerous bad guys to try & steal it and it's gems, he goes on to recruit a new generation of Power Rangers to find all the jewels and stop all the evil factions from getting them first.
He is voiced by Nic Sampson, who also played Chip Thorn in Power Rangers Mystic Force.
Biography[]
Early Life[]
While most of his past (his real name included) in completely unknown, the being who would become known as the Sentinel Knight grew up to become a powerful warrior & champion for good, as well as someone to be feared by any evildoer. At some point during his life he was tasked with being the guardian of special & powerful artifact known as the "Corona Aurora": a crown with the ability to contain the power of 5 powerful jewels at once, and he did so for a long time.
But that all changed on one fateful day when he went out to do some other unknown duty and left his post to guard the crown, a pair of vile brothers Flurious and Moltor tried to steal the Corona Aurora and were subsequently cursed into being monsters before being banished to different planets. After that fiasco the Sentinel Knight knew that the crown's location had lost it's secrecy and decided to hide the crown and its five jewels throughout the planet Earth.
Operation Overdrive[]
His spirit returned after a few hundred years to urge that Andrew and his team of Rangers protect the crown from impending forces. He once battled and imprisoned Thrax , the son of Rita Repulsa and Lord Zedd.
When Thrax disabled the Overdrive Rangers' powers, Sentinel Knight summoned five veteran Rangers and repowered them so they could temporarily take the current Rangers' place.
After Mack retrieved the sword Excelsior, he gave it to Sentinel Knight so that no one could use it to harm him. Excelsior restored Sentinel Knight, and fused with him, granting Sentinel Knight a new physical form.
Finale[]
After being restored to a new physical form, he swiftly destroyed Thrax. He has since been capable of transforming into the powerful Sentinel Sword weapon. Thanks to modifications by Rose, Sentinel Knight was able to merge with Mack to become the Red Sentinel Ranger.
Sentinel Knight
When the Corona Aurora was successfully retrieved, the Sentinel Knight took his original form, but is still able to combine with Excelsior. Thanks to Sentinel Knight, Mack became human when Sentinel Knight placed the crown on his head.
Trivia[]
- While he does have a Sentai counterpart, his original "spirit" form was not in Boukenger.
- The Sentinel Knight plays a similar role to Ninjor from Mighty Morphin Power Rangers Season 3.
- Nic Sampson, who voiced the Sentinel Knight, also played Charlie Thorn in Power Rangers Mystic Force.
