Sergeant Doberman is a male character from the cartoon series The Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog. He is a retired soldier, but despite being retired, Sergeant Doberman is still skilled in combat.
History[]
The Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog[]
When Tails gets hurt Sonic thinks it's to dangerous for him to keep fighting Robotnik so he tries to find a new home for his buddy where he will be safe. One of the home's they visit in the home of Sergeant Doberman who was the bravest soldier on Mobius before he retired because of his bravery and skills Sonic believes Tails will be safe with Sergeant Doberman. As Sonic tells Tails about the retired hero Sergeant Doberman returns to his house driving a tank he then starts talking to Sonic and Tails like they a soldiers in the army. When Sergeant Doberman learns that Tails is the one he will be adopting he starts teaching him how to be like a soldier telling him to stand up straight asking him to give him fifty push ups then tells them to run in place. Sonic and Tails then learn that Sergeant Doberman is not the right person to adopted Tails they leave to find a different home for Tails.
Sergeant Doberman returns again training one of his soldiers as Sonic and Tails are fighting Robotnik who invented a ray gun that can turn people stupid. As he is training his soldier he tells him about how they will being doing there training on a trip through the swamp his soldier doesn't want to do anymore training. Just then Sonic and Tails come running by trying to avoid the lasers from Robotnik's ray gun that turns anyone stupid Sergeant Doberman's soldier gets hit by the ray and becomes stupid. Sergeant Doberman is completely surprised about what happened and tries to find out what is going on. After Robotnik's defeat Sergeant Doberman and Wesley fight over his stupidity ray gun because they both want it. Sonic breaks up the fight by destroying the gun then he tries to get the to work with and together so they can stop Robotnik. Sonic is surprised that a great soldier like Sergeant Doberman would tried to use the stupidity for his own purpose however he is not surprised about Wes Wesley doing something like that. Sergeant Doberman and Wes Wesley agree to help Sonic Robotnik but only because he revealed to Sonic that he is going to build a bigger, new and more powerful stupidity ray which Sergeant Doberman and Wes Wesley want to use for themselves.
Later on the group of heroes then try to get into Robotnik's pinball fortress Sergeant Doberman tries to put himself in charge of the mission of getting into the fortress to stop Robotnik but Sonic remains him that he is still in charge which makes the sergeant angry. Sonic Wes Wesley and Sergeant Doberman then use some rope to get across the ledge they are on to get to the fortress and to avoid the traps that Wes Wesley sold to Robotnik. Sergeant Doberman tries to leave Wes Wesley behind as he ziplines down the rope to the fortress Wes Wesley jumps off the cliff to grab onto Sergeant Doberman so he doesn't get left behind. The two fight each other trying to throw the other one off of the zipline after they land on the ground next to the fortress Tails warns them that Robotnik already knows they are there and starts shooting rockets at them. When they try to get in through the door Wes Wesley tells them that it is unbreakable and the lock can't be picked since he knows this because his company invented it but so he pulls out so water to get the door wet which makes the rust very quickly he tells them that the door doesn't do well when it is rusted. After getting into the fortress Sergeant Doberman tries to rush ahead of them to get through the pinball machine Sonic tells him to wait but he doesn't listen and they end up in the pit where Robotnik's giant robot scorpion is waiting for them. After seeing the giant robot Sergeant Doberman tries to destroy it all by himself after Sergeant Doberman sees that he can't defeat the robot he then asks Sonic for help. Sonic then makes Robotnik believe that he is giving up after he reaches the control room of the fortress Robotnik believes that Sonic has given up. Sonic fools Robotnik into thinking he is offering him a gift before his last goodbye as he surrenders but then Robotnik learns it's a tick Sergeant Doberman and Wes Wesley then launch a surprise attack on Robotnik with on of Wes Wesley's products. After that Sergeant Doberman, Wes Wesley and Robotnik fight over who is going to use the stupidity ray as they are fighting Robotnik orders Scratch and Grounder to activate the stupidity ray but the two of them use it on Robotnik instead who becomes stupid and pulls the destruction leaver to his fortress so Sonic, Sergeant Doberman and Wes Wesley escape the fortress Tails saves them. After the stupidity ray and the pinball fortress are destroyed when Sonic tells Wes Wesley and Sergeant Doberman that they won't be able to get their hands on the ray now that it is destroyed they both agree with Sonic that it is probably better that the ray got destroyed. Sonic thanks them for there help then jokes saying that they made a good team Wes Wesley and Sergeant Doberman join in on the joke with Sonic saying they did make a good team. Then Sonic, Tails, Wes Wesley and Sergeant Doberman all say at the same time that isn't true they didn't make a good team and they all laugh because it is true.
Later in another episode after Sonic saves Wes Wesley again he tells Tails about how they should honor Sonic for everything he has done and about how they should invite all Sonic's friends to give the hedgehog an award. Tails goes to tell the news to Sergeant Doberman and the rest of Sonic's friends. As they are honoring Sonic Sergeant Doberman thanks Sonic telling him how he wouldn't be there to give Sonic an award if Sonic never destroyed the robot scorpion that Sergeant Doberman couldn't destroy. They then learn the truth that Wes Wesley and Robotnik set this up to get all of Sonic's friends in one place to use them as bait to get rid of Sonic which almost works. But when Wes Wesley learns Robotnik's double crossed him he goes back to help Sonic who then rescues his friends and stops Robotnik again.
Personality[]
He is a naturally intimidating person, yelling out military orders to anyone in sight and making sure everyone is well-behaved. He also does not seem to understand the concept of "adoption" when Sonic brought Tails to be the sergeant's adopted son.
He is always standing on top of his "soldiers" while he is training them with a serious attitude and never lets them ask questions. Meaning he has a very brutal way of training his soldiers.

Trivia[]
- Sergeant Doberman never appears in the Sonic comics but other Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog have appeared in the comics which could give the chance for other cartoon Sonic characters to possibly appear in the comics.
- Just like serval of the other characters from the cartoons if Sergeant Doberman appears in anything else aside from the television series he would have to go through changes in appearance to look more like a character from the games.
