Seryozha Viktrovich Nikanor is a minor character in the Ace Combat series. He is the prime minister of the Union of Yuktobanian Republics. While he never wished to fight Osea, the Grey Men's manipulations resulted in the two nations going to war and Nikanor being deposed, staying imprisoned for most of the war.
He was voiced by Masashi Ebara in Japanese, and by Paul St. Peter in English.
Biography[]
Past[]
In his first years as the Prime Minister, Nikanor introduced certain civil liberties to Yuktobania and presumably aimed to improve relationships with their eastern neighbour, Osea.
The Unsung War[]
Nikanor's exact role in the early days of war remains unclear. All that is known is that he was deposed by far-right forces, who imprisoned him in the Shtil Internment Camp, thus allowing them to continue military action against Oseans for downing their spy aircraft. Nikanor would eventually be rescued by the resistance forces and taken on board of the renegade OFS Kestrel. From there, he called upon his fleet to seize action, and some of its members obeyed him, though some deemed him a traitor and kept firing at Oseans and those who joined them. Osean President Vincent Harling and Nikanor would later address all of their troops, ordering them to go after the true perpetrators of the war, the Grey Men.
Several months after the end of the Circum-Pacific War, Nikanor was formally reappointed Prime Minister of Yuktobania.
Personality[]
Little is known about Nikanor, but much like Harling, he is a pacifistic leader who prefers to solve conflicts without bloodshed, though he can still resort to fighting when he deems necessary. He doesn't hold animosity towards Oseans, and encourages Yuktobanians to live in peace as well.
Trivia[]
- Nikanor's name is written completely against the rules of Russian language:
- "Seryozha" is a shortened form of the name "Sergei" rather than a full name.
- The patronymic "Viktrovich", meaning "son of Victor", misses an extra "o" between the letters "t" and "r".
- The second name "Nikanor" would much more likely be written with the suffix "-ov", as in "Nikanorov".
