The Seven-Colored Rabbit is the titular main protagonist of the franchise of the same name.
He is a 5-year-old rabbit who was adopted by Mr. Năm Hên, therefore becoming the adoptive younger brother of Xô, Mr. Năm's granddaughter. A mischievous rabbit, he always seeks to become rich as quickly as possible to provide for his family, and is rather lazy on everything, preferring to sit alone in his room and play video games. His antics end up causing a lot of troubles for Mr. Năm and Xô throughout the series.
He is voiced by Đỗ Trần Thủy Tiên.
Appearance[]
The Seven-Colored Rabbit has a rather simplistic design. He is a cartoonish white rabbit with two dots for eyes and pink cheeks, with his ears drooping down. His mouth is only visible whenever he speaks. Occasionally, he can also be seen holding a carrot.
Personality[]
The Seven-Colored Rabbit is very mischievous and seeks to become rich as quickly as possible. However, it's not merely out of personal greed, but also because he wants to provide money for Mr. Năm Hên and Xô. While he often means well, his antics end up causing a lot of troubles for Xô and Mr. Năm, such as when he joins a gambling game to help his family becoming richer, and he bets on everything for such. In the end, he loses the game and everything, and it's only thanks to the police that he and his family get their stuff back.
The Rabbit also loves playing games, even to the point of forgetting meals. This annoys Mr. Năm to no end and he at one point sends him to a rehabilitation center ran by his old friend so the Rabbit can finally give up, and said friend has been very successful even with the most hardcore gamers. However, it turns out the Rabbit has been up to date with the technology and lets the game update itself even when he's absent, so the process ultimately doesn't work for him in the end.
While often dimwitted, the Rabbit can be very crafty, capable of creative ideas. While he uses most of them to get rich, it still shows that he can be a genius when needed. His weird personality also alienates from others, but he never feels alone since even loneliness itself has left him.
Biography[]
The Seven-Colored Rabbit was found by Mr. Năm Hên as a child, and took to his home. From there, Mr. Năm raised the Rabbit as if he was his own grandson, and the Rabbit grew up with Mr. Năm's granddaughter, Xô. He grows up to be very mischievous and has made friends and enemies alike in many other animals. Throughout the series, the Rabbit has used several endeavors to get rich as quickly as possible, both for himself and his family, but those endeavors all end up causing troubles for them. At the end of each episode, the Rabbit learns a valuable lesson from those troubles.
The first episode also reveals that the Rabbit's countryside is one where everything is meant to be taken literally, i.e. cockfighting is literally kicking a cock; buffalo fighting is literally people throwing stones at the buffalo (a bull ends up throwing a large rock that kills the buffalo, so he is used instead); flower firework is literally exploding a flower into firework. Even the boat to go home, which is said to run on horsepower, is literally carried by horses. This kind of mindset is implied to have influenced the Rabbit's way of thinking.
Trivia[]
- Despite his name, the Rabbit only has one color: white. It's because his name refers to how the seven colors of the rainbow, when combined together, will create white. According to series creator Huỳnh Thái Ngọc, the reason the Rabbit is white was because he was too lazy to color him.[1]
- Huỳnh Thái Ngọc shared in 2014 that he modeled the Rabbit's personality after himself.
