A Shadow Altered Telepath
The Shadow Altered Telepaths were a group of human telepaths in the Babylon 5 universe.
Introduced in the Babylon 5 episode Ship of Tears, they were a group of 100 blips, or telepaths who had decided not to join the psi-corps or take sleepers to suppress their abilities. This particular group of telepaths were arrested by the psi-corps and handed over to the agents of the Shadows. Once in the hands of these agents, they had cybernetics implanted into their brains which would allow them to be used as CPUs for Shadow vessels. These telepaths were put in suspended animation and then taken on to a cargo vessel to be transported to the Shadow fleet.
One of the altered telepaths was Carolyn Sanderson, the lover of psi-cop Alfred Bester. After she disappeared Bester tracked her down on the cargo vessel, and with the assistance of John Sheridan and the Babylon 5 crew intercepted the cargo vessel.
Taking the altered telepaths back to Babylon 5, they were forced to keep the telepaths in suspended animation after Sanderson tried to interface with and take over the station's computer systems.
During the closing days of the Earth Alliance Civil War, 30 of the telepaths were used by Sheridan to disable a majority of the destroyers under the command of Clark's forces. They were able to disable 25 of the vessels. Sheridan and his forces disabled the remaining vessels. These 30 telepaths were killed when discovered by ship's security, but by their actions they saved over 30,000 lives by eliminating the need to destroy Clark's forces.
The remaining telepaths in the group were transferred back to Earth so that medical experts could try to free them from the Shadow devices. This group of telepaths died when the facility they were held in was bombed by the resistance during the Telepath War.
