Sharkey is a major character in 007’s movie Licence to Kill.
He is a fictional fisherman who operates his own charter business and a close friend of Feilix Leiter, he’s also in John Gardner's accompanying novelization spelled Sharky.
He was played by the late Frank McRae.
History[]
Sharkey first appears with Bond at Felix Leiter's wedding party for his wedding, during their trip they are called by DEA officials working for Felix, telling them that he has to delay the wedding because there is a drug wizard, Franz Sanchez, who must be arrested.
Felix is later injured, mutilated, severely by Sanchez's servants and whom Bond and Sharkey visit at the hospital. Sharkey examines Felix's wounds describing them as a shark attack and then Bond invites Felix to take revenge on Sanchez.
Bond and Sharkey infiltrate the marine research lab where Felix was mauled by the shark. Just when Ed Killifer is about to shoot Bond (or throw him into the open tank full of sharks), Sharkey saves Bond by throwing Killifer into the tank full of sharks. However, Killfer manages to cling to a dangling rope and proposes to give Bond and Sharkey $ 2,000,000 if they help him back up, Bond instead throws the box of money in their face, which causes Killifer to let go and falls into the tub. full of sharks. While Killifer is being eaten by the sharks, Sharkey grimaces "God, what a terrible waste," and then turns to Bond, both with a smirk and says "of money".ù
The next day, Sharkey informs Bond of Wavekrest, a maritime research vessel owned by Sanchez partner Milton Krest. Arriving Sharkey helps Bond to board the ship but is then captured and killed in an unknown way and hung like a shark on the dock by Milton Krest. Bond manages to avenge Sharkey by killing Krest with a harpoon gun and then says "compliments of Sharkey".
