Jennifer Sue Walters, also known as She-Hulk, is the titular main protagonist of She-Hulk: Attorney At Law. She is a lawyer and the cousin of Bruce Banner, also known as the Hulk. After she and Bruce suffered a car accident, his blood went into Jennifer's opened wound, giving her similar abilities just like her cousin.
She was portrayed by Tatiana Maslany, who also voiced Aja Tarron and Queen Coranda in 3Below.
Biography[]
Early Life[]
Jennifer Walters was born to Morris Walters and Elaine Banner and grew up in Los Angeles. She was related to Bruce Banner, who was her first cousin. In 2018, Jennifer survived the snap inflicted by Thanos.
She-Hulk: Attorney at Law[]
In a car crash, while attempting to get Bruce to safety, Jennifer comes into contact with his blood, whereupon she underwent a physical transformation similar to him and became She-Hulk. She was then hired by GLK&H to be the face of their Superhuman Law Division. Jennifer took on many cases, including that of Abomination and Wong, while also getting herself in conflict with as Titania.
Her rising fame soon got the ire of the online hate-group Intelligencia, who would later hijack the Southern California Law Awards Gala and released footage they had obtained of her having sex in order to make her lose control. Jennifer was stopped and detained by the United States Department of Damage Control and later released under the condition that she would no longer transform into She-Hulk. At a final confrontation with Intelligencia, she entered the real world in order to rewrite the ending to allow herself to be She-Hulk once more.
Personality[]
Jennider is a person with a strong personality: sincere, intelligent, hardworking and very confident. This confidence sometimes leaves her on the brink of arrogance, such as when she despised Bruce Banner's peaceful attempts to train her and considered herself superior to him.
Jennifer has a strong belief in both justice and the law and believes everyone has the right to fair treatment no matter their morals as shown when she defended Emil Blonsky despite him having tried to kill Bruce all those years ago.
She also has an attachment to her life as a lawyer that she worked very hard to have, this is shown when she constantly insists that Banner let her back into her life.
Internally, Walters dealt with serious self-esteem and self-acceptance issues, due to this, after gaining her powers, Walters started to dissociate Jen Walters from She-Hulk when she realized she could look the way she always wanted, and despite her reluctance, she soon embraced her powers. As She-Hulk, she is extremely confident and fearless, She-Hulk was also used as a protective shield whenever she felt uncomfortable in human form.
Her self-esteem issues worsened when Walters realized that most people were only interested in She-Hulk, which caused Walters to subconsciously want to move further away from her human persona. The final trigger was when she was ghosted by Josh Miller, the only person who didn't seem interested in She-Hulk. After venting in a session of Abomaste, Walters felt much better about herself and allowed herself to be just Jen Walters again, briefly recovering her from her identity issues.

Quotes[]
| “ | I wanna make sure that you don't think this is one of those cameo every week type of shows. It's not. Well, except Bruce. And Blonsky. And Wong. Just remember whose show this actually is. | „ |
| ~ Jennifer breaking the fourth wall. |
| “ | I did not go to law school and rack up six figures in student loans to become a vigilante. That is for billionaires and narcissists. And adult orphans, for some reason. | „ |
| ~ Jennifer on her current position as a superhero. |
| “ | Jennifer Walters: Attorney at Law. | „ |
| ~ She-Hulk to Titania. |
| “ | You think life would be so much easier if I were that person, and I can turn into that person anytime I want to. And everyone pays attention when I'm this. Like, my colleagues, my boss... Guys. But it feels like cheating because would they like me if I didn't have all of this? Like, if I was just Jen, would the same guys who like She-Hulk stick around for Jen? Because some of them don't. And that sucks for Jen. | „ |

Trivia[]
- This is the first live-action depiction of the character.
- She is the second superhero from the Marvel Cinematic Universe to be a lawyer, the first being Daredevil.
- Both rely on the same supersuit tailor and then they eventually engage in a brief but passionate fling.
- She is the third character from the Marvel Cinematic Universe to break the fourth wall, the first being Groot and the second being Pizza Poppa.
- Despite being the protagonist, most audiences, males and females alike, found this interpretation of She-Hulk to be rather unlikable compared to her original fun-loving counterpart from the comics, with her characterization being two-dimensional, sanctimonious, and misandristic.
- Particularly the infamous scene in the first episode where she chastises Bruce and claims she's a better Hulk than he is since being a woman all her life and (supposeedly) having to regularly deal with being catcalled in the street or having her own area of expertise explained to her by "incompetent men" has prepared her for it despite the obvious fact that Bruce was both honestly trying to help her and had clearly gone through FAR WORSE then her, having spent many years sporadically losing control of his his own body to his "Hulk" personality, experiencing blackouts each time the Hulk took him over, living in constant fear of hurting others as the Hulk, being hunted and persecuted for it to the point of ending his relationship with his girlfriend, as well as trying to commit suicide, being mistrusted and treated as a monster by almost everyone, losing some of his closest friends in a war, and severely injuring his arm in an effort to resurrect half of the universe.
- Although, one could argue that the shock of the situation and her (allegedly) already unstable social and aimless career status, made her dismissive of her cousin's own plights; and it is stated she has had to frequently deal with people kindly yet insensitively telling her what to do, this is a very weak excuse for the way she treated him, since he himself had never done anything to deserve it. What's worse, at no point in the series does she apologize for what she said to Bruce nor admit to being in the wrong, nor does she undergo any clear character development or explicitly learn to differentiate between meddlers, opportunists, and people whom she could accept were offering solid advice. As a result, some audiences chose not to re-watch the show after having already viewed all nine episodes.
- Some audiences were also displeased that the character wasn't as confidently sexualized as She-Hulk is at some points. The plot thread of the villains using involuntarily porn was upsetting to many viewers.
