Shinon is a supporting character of Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance and Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn. He is employed by the Daein army to help stop Ike's forces from advancing across the Daein border. He rejoins the company grudgingly, under the persuasion of Rolf, but only after Ike has defeated him.
In Path of Radiance, Shinon's age is revealed to be twenty-seven in his A level support conversation with Janaff, and Rolf was even known to call him "uncle" Shinon.
In Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn, Shinon helps the Laguz Alliance along with the other Greil Mercenaries, but he stills dislikes Ike. He shoots the arrow that cuts the rope on the noose that the rebels are hanging Lucia at the end of part 2. He continues to mentor Rolf and has created his own bow, the Silencer.
In the Japanese version, he is voiced by Junji Majima, who also voiced Oscar, Karel, Jeorge and Sothe. In the English version, he was voiced by Joey Pepin in Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn and by Brendan McKian in Fire Emblem: Heroes, who also voiced Osian and Xane.
Appearance[]
Shinon is a young man with long, pinkish-red hair, which he keeps in a ponytail. He wears dark green clothes, white pants and black boots with golden accents. In Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance, Shinon wears a light brown cape while in Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn, he wears an orange one. The sleeve on his left arm is white in Path of Radiance and dark green in Radiant Dawn.
Personality[]
Shinon is a sarcastic, self-interested man. He is good friends with Gatrie and bears a great respect for Greil, which can be revealed in a support with Janaff where he defends the deceased commander. On the other hand, he constantly treats Ike like a foolish child and finds the idea of Greil's son serving as his commander intolerable. Likewise, he has a very high opinion of himself, and he isn't afraid to share that with the other members of the company. For unknown reasons, Shinon is racist towards Laguz, referring to them as "sub-humans". The only reason why he shows any degree of respect for Janaff is due to his age. In Path of Radiance, it's implied that Shinon is an alcoholic, as he drunkenly rants to Ike in a base conversation in chapter 23.
Shinon wishes to live a more comfortable life, and feels that the Greil Mercenaries would do better to search out more lucrative employment than scaring bandits away from Crimean villages. Ultimately, he leaves the party, following the news that Ike would succeed Greil as leader of the mercenaries.
Biography[]
Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance[]
Shinon was first introduced killing a bandit who attempted to murder Rolf and Mist. He then goes along with Ike, Titania, and Gatrie drive the bandits, led by Havetti, away. When being spotted by Daein soldiers, Shinon reprimands Ike for the lack of preparations. Titania and him get into an argument after Shinon attempts to loot from the dead Daein soldiers. Shinon and the rest of the Greil Mercenaries succeeded in defending the fort against Dakova's forces, leading for Shinon and Gatrie to split up together after packing out of the fort. As Ike and others are holding off Balmer's forces, Shinon, alongside with Greil and Gatrie, arrived to assist Ike on routing the enemies. As the succeeded, they regrouped with Greil only to be surrounded by Petrine's forces, which were frightened away by the Gallian forces led by Ranulf. After Greil was slain by The Black Knight, Shinon and Gatrie departs from the group as they believed Ike was an incompetant leader. Later, Shinon is seen working for the Daein soldiers led by Kayachey. Rolf exchanged words with Shinon as they encountered before Ike defeated him. After his defeat, Shinon was reluctantly convinced to rejoin the company. Rolf gave a bow he made to Shinon, which Shinon ridiculed him for as it was very ineffective. He then teaches Rolf to make a bow more proper. He is revealed to be an alcoholic in his conversation with Ike, where he mocked him for his relationship with Elincia. Shinon also berated him for still claiming the Greil Mercenaries. He later vomited, which Ike then told him that it was never about the commandership, but his father. After Ashnard's defeat, Shinon not only refused to congratulate Ike, but chose to belittle and boosting his own ego over him.
Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn[]
Shinon was introduced in a cutscene where he decided to take the shot at Lucia's noose as Rolf refused out of fear that he'd accidentally hit her. He was also fighting against Silvano's forces to help the Laguz alliance advance. He also participated in battling against Rommit's forces. Shinon's prejudice towards the laguz was still enflamed as Gatrie confessed his attraction of Lyre to him. It was then revealed that him and Ike were still at odds when he was conversating with Aimee about the payment she was about to finalize for a bow Shinon crafted, which led him to avoid Ike when he joined the conversation. Shinon was later reinforced to battle against the Dawn Brigade at the Nox Castle. He then later crafted a Silencer for Rolf. After Ashera's defeat, he chose to live the rest of his life without pushing his will onto anyone.
