Shirley "the Loon" McLoon is a supporting character from Tiny Toon Adventures and one of the main characters from Tiny Toons Looniversity. She is a loon with psychic powers and the primary female counterpart and love interest/girlfriend of Plucky Duck.
She was voiced by Gail Matthius in the original and by Natalie Palamides in the reboot.
History[]
She is one of Babs Bunny's two best friends and the crush of Plucky Duck, but she only occasionally pairs with him, such as going to a dance. She doesn't often happen to show have a crush on him because he hardly ever shows much kindness to others but she still has feeling for him and would probably give them out proudly if he proves himself his true good nature to everyone besides herself. In some episodes who wanted to beat Plucky up for being love interest. Her name is based off Shirley MacLaine. Shirley is a very pretty white loon with shoulder-length blonde hair and wears a pink bow and a long-sleeved sweater. Gail Matthius did her voice with a valley girl accent.
Personality[]
Shirley is a young clairvoyant loon with extraordinary psychic powers. Her intelligence is somewhat obscured by a thick Valley girl accent and obsession with superficial New Age paraphernalia.
Many characters regard Shirley as a flake, but she takes their skepticism philosophically; "I know I'm at one with the spiritual plane. Besides, in your next lives, you're all coming back as avocados, so there." Always in a state of calm cosmic oneness, Shirley is the spaciest toon in Acme Acres.
Despite this trait, however, Shirley shows that she can be very kind and helpful towards her friends. She aids her friends on several occasions, such as reminding Plucky of his crude behavior.

Shirley is adept at mind-reading, channeling, and projecting her aura (a glowing likeness of herself with a mind of its own). She can levitate herself during meditation, commune with her aura (which is sometimes a separate entity from her), and fire force-blasts from her hands when agitated. In the Love Disconnection episode segment, The Amazing Three, where Babs Bunny, Fifi La Fume, and Shirley attend a prom at Perfecto Prep (a rival university), red punch gets spilled on Shirley, and she begins a rampage very similar to that of Carrie (although much more G-rated), from the Stephen King novel of the same name.
Trivia[]
- Shirley had an original design before the series was made but Steven Spielberg decided to make her design into one that makes her look like Plucky and make her his female counterpart.
- In the original series, Shirley used the word "like" in her sentences which is similar to Shaggy Rogers uses in his sentences.
