~ WPC Shirley Trewlove to Morse. |
Woman Police Constable Shirley Trewlove is a major protagonist of Endeavour, appearing from Series 3 to 5. She was a female police constable joining Oxford City Police and Cowley Police Station, half a year after Constable Endeavour Morse's release from prison, and not long before Peter Jakes' departure.
During her career in Oxford, she served as a right-hand to PCS Reginald Bright (whilst Morse served as Fred Thursday's right-hand), being a recurring ally to Morse and later the love interest of George Fancy.
She was portrayed by Dakota Blue Richards, who is best known for portraying Lyra Silvertongue in the 2007 film The Golden Compass.
Personality[]
Trewlove is an independent and capable feminist, who showed resourceful skills and intellegence during Morse's investigation to help him. In addition, she had an extensive knowledge upon certain things like chess and alcohol, which became crucial for the investigations. Most notably, Trewlove managed to correct Morse's mistake on his recreation of Simon Hallward's murder case, which was her very first case since her arrival in Oxford.
Whilst being good friend with Morse, Trewlove dislike some of his blunt and even misogynistic comments. She was particularly angry about Morse saying women under the uniform as stupid.

Trivia[]

- Trewlove refers to a chess gambit as "Kronsteen's variation" - a reference to the chess master played by Vladek Sheybal in the film From Russia With Love.
