Heroine Overview

Shizuri: Hey, Tsu-chan. I mean, Mr. Tsukasa. Listen, I will do my best to fight for you. So please, I beg you, provide for me! [...] (Provide, provide, provide...)
Tsukasa: Um, of course.
Shizuri: You mean it?! Heck
yeah! You sure?! You promise me you will then, right?! OK! Then can I play games?!
Tsukasa: Uh-huh...
Shizuri:
Yeeeees! Oh, also, my name's Shizuri. I'm a kunoichi and shut-in gamer. Glad to meet ya. Now let's have fun!
Narrator: And so the struggling office worker and the aspiring NEET kunoichi became unexpected roomies! And then...
Shizuri:
Yeaaah!
Narrator: ...a week passed in the blink of an eye.
Shizuri: This is it! This is the life! I game, and then I eat some food and game and then eat some more, and then I loaf around all day long! Plus, Tsu-chan is a seriously talented cook! Can I really live like this?! I sure can! Oh, and of course, I promise to do my best to eradicate the Yoma so that they do not take your life! I will express my utmost gratitude to you every day like you're a god, Mr. Tsukasa.
~ Shizuri is accepted as Tsukasa's roommate in exchange for promising to protect him from invading Yoma that may attack them both.

Shizuri: She was right all along: I'm too weak.
Tsukasa: You're not! I'm the one who should apologize! [...] It's just that... I've always been passive and quick to give up on things. I just went with the flow. I was someone who thought their life had no value, no meaning. But you, and my life with you made me finally understand that I'm not... completely worthless. [...] I just wanted to see you smile and be yourself, and if that means being a NEET, then so be it! So that's why, for my sake... I beg you! Please continue being a NEET! [...] I wanna do everything I can for you to continue your NEET lifestyle! I'll do whatever it takes! [Shizuri returns Tsukasa's confession by kissing him]
Shizuri: This is a true contract between the two of us. I'll never leave you, not ever, Tsu-chan. [...] I have to hurry now. I'm so glad I met you. I love you.
~ Shizuri telling Tsukasa she loves him after their first kiss.
Clena: Father found out! [Clena shows Killa an angry text message from their father]
Killa: ... Hey, NEET loser! What's your dumb name?!
Shizuri: Shizuri Ideura.
Killa: I admit I've lost this round, but next time I'll make sure... I
beat you! Remember me!
Clena: She's Kilala!
Killa: SHUT UP!!! Just why do you have to keep telling everyone that, Clenaaa?!
Clena: Because your real name is so adorable! [Killa yells]
~ Shizuri telling the Yoma her name.

Shizuri Ideura is the titular deuteragonist of the anime/manga series I'm Living with an Otaku NEET Kunoichi!?.

She is Tsukasa Atsumi's ninja roommate who protects him from Yoma while dealing with her fellow ninjas who come to visit her during her partnership with him. Even though they seemingly have a mere master-servant contract between ninja and master, Shizuri and Tsukasa appear to have much deeper feelings for one another that the former constantly denies.

During her stay with Tsukasa, however, it turns out that demons are not the only adversity she has to worry about as her fellow ninjas from the village (especially Ayame Momochi), demons more powerful than average, and various other situations including a greedy ninja clan leader interfere with her lifestyle as a NEET. She is determined to deal with these situations as hastily as possible so she can return to her normal lifestyle.

She is voiced by Hinaki Yano in Japanese and Alyssa Marek in English.

Appearance[]

Shizuri is a fair-skinned woman with long, light pink hair and pigtails, a strand of hair poking out from the top, as well as dark purple eyes. She wears a skintight dark pink ninja outfit that covers her whole body which she wears a light blue tracksuit on top of when off-duty. She also has a pair of rounded black glasses that are only worn when off-duty as she never wears these during her ninja duties.

In the anime adaptation, Shizuri's hands are bared while wearing her tracksuit and the stripes on her tracksuit sleeves are removed.

Personality[]

Shizuri is a selfless, enthusiastic, caring, and loyal individual who is protective of those she cares about. She is most focused on protecting Tsukasa Atsumi and her NEET lifestyle and will go to lethal extremes to defend them both. She is also insecure and has a fragile sense of self outside of her ninja capabilities, frequently undermining herself, something of which causes her to react shyly, aggressively, or rudely whenever she feels disrespected or vulnerable.

Shizuri is also very competitive and determined to win any challenge she is involved in, particularly desiring to win her video games and taunting the demon leader Killa Ventor when she defeats her in the final battle. Despite her NEET lifestyle, something she is determined to maintain, her social reclusion, by her own words, stems from her uncertainty regarding her capabilities beyond being a ninja and her general competence outside of that rather than personal indulgence.

Shizuri unable to work[]

Per her role as the titular NEET character of the series, there are several occasions where attempting to work or go outside (the opposite of what a NEET should do) are something Shizuri is physically incapable of doing without an outside force halting her or her being too overwhelmed to commit to it:

  • Shizuri most frequently has to remove Ayame from her sights due to Ayame's perversions interfering with her lifestyle the most out of every possible hindrance to it. She also complains about Killa and Clena interfering with her lifestyle in the second and final OVA at the end of the series.
  • Shizuri's first time working under Saya Hazuki causes her to choke upon attempting to attend to a patron of the maid cafe. When she attempts to work again, she encounters Tsukasa in the cafe per Saya's orders and uses alcohol to deal with the stresses of working as a maid while her master watches over her, lamenting that she's incapable of working once she wakes up again.
  • After spending three days working as a maid, Shizuri complains that she wants to return back home again as she cries over being forced to work under Saya to pay off the debt for Tsukasa's apartment.
  • Her requests for hire at part-time jobs are all rejected by the companies she asks to be hired by, requiring her to work under Saya as the maid job is the only one she is familiar with and has worked at already.
  • When Shizuri officially works under Saya, she immediately grows exhausted and turns to drawing Inumusume scenes as a substitute for playing the real gacha game and even complains about missing special limited time gacha quests. This notably decreases her motivation in a more serious manner when she gets attacked and severely injured by the sadistic and demonic Killa Ventor later on as her being allowed to be a NEET again gives her the necessary power to defeat Killa with ease despite her previous weakness.
  • In the beach OVA, Shizuri complains about being outside surrounded by large groups of people and refusing to partake in beach activities with Tsukasa and company.

Biography[]

The renowned ninja Shizuri Ideura shows up before office worker Tsukasa Atsumi to save him from falling debris caused by a Yoma. Clueless to what Yoma are, with introductions, Shizuri informs him that Yoma have haunted him his whole life and that she will protect him under a contract in exchange for staying at his apartment. Shizuri reveals after the contract that she is a gamer NEET who requires his aid to survive. Tsukasa takes Shizuri to his apartment where Shizuri dons her signature black glasses and blue tracksuit before begging for him to provide for her, a condition that Tsukasa accepts. Shizuri spends her schedule at home eating, gaming and sleeping while her master cooks these high-class meals for her, occasionally buying food from the shop that Himari Asakura manages. A week later, Tsukasa tells Shizuri that he likes her company, embarrassing Shizuri who copes with the compliment by leaving the scene to bathe.

Shizuri contemplates how she will deal with her contract with Tsukasa being complicated by romantic situations as Tsukasa decides to buy her something to thank her for protecting him all the time. Shizuri, adamant to maintain her lifestyle, plays a fighting game against Tsukasa and loses repeatedly. Embarrassed by his compliments again, Shizuri demands that she helps him with his chores to repay him.

While on a business trip, Shizuri is stuck in Tsukasa’s apartment with only his lunch money to provide for herself. Shizuri creates an anti-Yoma charm for Tsukasa to use when by his lonesome. Following Tsukasa’s return, Shizuri begs Tsukasa to cook for her as she wasted his money on a Nemu figure he already bought for her and was forced to eat bean sprouts to survive. Fainting from shock, Shizuri wakes up again to find Tsukasa is at work and forgot his lunch. Using a shukuchi technique, Shizuri jumps onto the roof where Tsukasa currently is to give him his lunch and asks him to buy the video game she has wanted for her. Meanwhile, the perverted obsessor Ayame Momochi from Shizuri’s village sees a photo of Shizuri taken by one of the workers on the roof via smartphone and hunts Shizuri down for herself.

Once the two of them are back home together, Shizuri continues pulling all-nighter playthroughs of her favorite fighting game in an attempt to win while Tsukasa watches over her. Ayame peers into Tsukasa’s apartment to see them together and envies him for being able to spend time with Shizuri. Concerned by Ayame’s presence, Tsukasa lets Ayame into the apartment. Ayame insults Shizuri’s lifestyle and accuses Tsukasa of deceiving her before she is kicked out of the apartment by an agitated Shizuri as Ayame takes masochistic glee in the abuse she receives. Shizuri insists that her fellow ninjas are not as crazy as Ayame is as she breaks down crying in anguish.

Shizuri’s attempts to win the game are ruined once again when Hina Izumi shows up and causes a power outage due to her bad luck magic, much to Shizuri’s dismay. When she is let inside as well, Hina tells Shizuri that she fell in love with her master Toru Nakayama and her contract with him will be voided as a result. Hina begs Shizuri to train her in Yoma defense so she can defend her master when he’s in danger, a request Shizuri accepts without issue. While expertly eliminating Yoma aplenty, Shizuri is repeatedly attacked by Hina’s inexperienced ninjutsu magic while training. Shizuri reassures Hina not to give up before Toru himself appears at the scene, having been watching nearby. A Yoma that Shizuri previously eliminated then ends up rising and attacking Toru. Underestimating Hina’s desire to protect him, Shizuri jumps into the crossfire of Hina’s fire-based ninjutsu attack to defend her and burns to a crisp while the Yoma is defeated, much to Hina’s dismay.

Having dealt with enough trouble from her ninja friends, Shizuri boards up Tsukasa’s apartment balcony door so she can continue playing her game only to end up succumbing to fatigue as a result of pulling several all-nighters in a row. Tsukasa leaves his apartment for a meeting and gets attacked by Ayame and a Yoma. The Yoma hits Ayame repeatedly and reveals her true form as a man called Ilm. Insecure about this as he sees Shizuri as his ideal, Ilm begs Tsukasa to keep this a secret from Shizuri, moments before the girl herself shows up at the scene. Only concerned by Ayame (who is actually Ilm) and Tsukasa and having no idea what is happening, Shizuri approaches Ilm to pull him away from Tsukasa. In a desperate attempt to hide his form from the front, Ilm jumps onto Tsukasa and continues begging him to keep this a secret while Shizuri’s anger raises when she thinks Ayame is making advances toward her master, threatening to outright kill Ayame to protect him. Tsukasa tells Shizuri that Ayame was just drained from fighting as an excuse for her Ilm form while Ilm uses a fake body to conceal his man form before skulking away from the scene.

Back at home again, Shizuri regrets failing to protect Tsukasa and admonishes herself for her perceived insolence as she believes her sole purpose is protecting him, claiming he can replace her with another ninja if he so desires. Being fine with Shizuri staying as his roommate, she decides to make herself familiar with his apartment. Shizuri walks out to his balcony to find Hina living adjacent from her, simultaneously with Ayame who is doing the same. During a meeting, Shizuri tells Hina’s master Toru to keep her happy to prevent her bad luck magic from arising while warning Ayame not to interfere with her life after she saw Ayame with Tsukasa the night before. Shizuri desperately warns the ninjas not to interfere with her and Tsukasa’s relationship unless they wish to suffer.

Sometime later, Tsukasa requests Shizuri to make rice porridge for him after he gets sick with a cold and attempts to fulfil this request but finds that she has no cooking competence. Shizuri retrieves Tsukasa’s wallet in an attempt to buy ice cream for him instead only to get interrupted by a Yoma, which she drops the wallet while killing in her ninja mode. Abiding by Shizuri’s desperate request for help, Hina helps her cook the porridge while commending Shizuri on deciding to help Tsukasa than leaving him in his condition. She denies that she is making porridge for Tsukasa and flees the scene so she avoids revealing that she cares for his survival. Embarrassed by the fact that he likes the porridge she made for him, Shizuri runs to a hiding space to play Inumusume only to find that the newest quest has ended.

A month after their first meeting, Tsukasa asks Shizuri to come with him on a date to buy a gaming computer that she can more efficiently play games on. Embarrassed by this, Shizuri excuses herself to bathe as she laments that she lacks the appropriate attire for a date because her only available outfit is her tracksuit, something that would contrast the formal occasion. Shizuri delays herself while Tsukasa visits Akihabara on his own so she can obtain a dress for the date by asking Hina to provide her with one. Shizuri has to resort to asking Ayame for help instead due to Hina’s absence. In exchange for helping her, Ayame requests that Shizuri threatens her to satisfy her masochistic desires, a request she fulfils when Ayame tells her that Tsukasa likely only thinks of her as a tool than a person; in reality, Ayame is projecting how she actually views Shizuri despite her apparent shared love for her. Irritated by Ayame’s desperate attempt to ruin their relationship, Shizuri disciplines her by telling Ayame she’ll kill her if she continues ranting about her nonsensical beliefs before wearing the dress.

Convinced by Ayame’s deception, Shizuri locates Tsukasa in Akihabara and wonders what he thinks of her dress, doubting that he thinks she’s appealing in it. When Tsukasa validates her, Shizuri hides in the bathroom to internally express her gratitude toward him before returning back outside to begin their date together. Distracted by her surroundings, Shizuri requests that the two of them visit Akihabara and eat kebabs together rather than buying a gaming PC like they intended to. Shizuri is flustered by Tsukasa’s previous compliment toward her and runs off to buy Turkish ice cream as an excuse for her embarrassment. Shizuri is incurred to hide from Tsukasa when she sees him with a childhood friend upon returning back, hearing the former friend imply that Shizuri is like a tool to him as Ayame implied before. Hearing Tsukasa say that she is important to him causes Shizuri to feel validated as the ice cream she’s holding ends up melting on her hands, much to her obvious disgust. Returning back home, Shizuri attempts to return the compliment only for a Yoma to interrupt her. Shizuri kills the Yoma in utter fury and ends up bloodstained, causing her to break down crying like a child as the moment for her to thank him for his validation was lost.

Walking back home, Shizuri and Tsukasa set up the gaming computer they bought while Ayame perversely demands the dress she gave to Shizuri back from her without washing it and Himari judges Shizuri as a loser. Shizuri spends the rest of her time gaming on this computer as part of her lifestyle. However, an egotistical, short-tempered Kanna Natsumi enters Shizuri’s room and demands her to fight if she wants to prove that her fighting style is better than Kanna’s while self-proclaiming that she is Shizuri’s rival. Denying on the basis of never having beaten Shizuri before, Kanna flies into a tantrum while Hina tries to restrain her. Hina is antagonized by Kanna and her bad luck magic causes an explosion in Tsukasa’s apartment. Saya Hazuki, the landlady, former leader of Urabu Force, and Shizuri’s instructor, deploys a mirror barrier to prevent any damages only to cruelly remove it and force the ninjas to pay one million yen for the explosion, including a bystander Ayame who, for a rare occasion, did not contribute to the chaos.

Saya takes the ninjas to work at the Nin Nin Maid Cafe in Akihabara where they pay off the debt in a three-day period, despite Shizuri’s reluctance and throwing up on the job. The other ninjas take their maid outfits back home with them as Shizuri mistakenly takes Ayame’s instead, causing Ayame to lust over her once again. Shizuri wears the maid outfit and is made to show it before Tsukasa, who she saves from another Yoma attack while selflessly telling him that she can handle combat tasks for him. Saya, who is watching over Shizuri’s antics, blows up Tsukasa’s apartment again and tells Shizuri to stop slacking off all the time, thoroughly enraging Shizuri who spends her time with Tsukasa protecting him from Yoma attacks. Defending Shizuri from the landlady, Tsukasa tells Saya that she should not have to leave. Once they return back home, Shizuri declares that she will be a NEET no longer.

When Shizuri sends out multiple requests for hire, she is rejected from every single job opportunity, leading her to question her purpose in the world as her only apparent ability is fighting. Shizuri resorts to working under Saya again alongside Kanna, who is also working at the cafe for the sake of her village’s safety and so she can continue wearing a maid outfit for others. Shizuri and Kanna are accepted as Saya hired them in advance.

Now with a stable job, Shizuri helps Tsukasa with chores back at his apartment as she is overwhelmed by the work she is committing herself to. Shizuri tells Tsukasa about the power of the master, an ability that will allow him to deal with high-level Yoma in the event that they attack them both, a proclamation foreshadowing future events. Unbeknownst to Shizuri, two deceptively attractive humanoid Yoma girls named Killa Ventor and Clena Ventor of the Ventor family have already entered the real world with the plan to kill any and all ninjas they encounter for their powers. Killa and Clena have a strained relationship due to Killa focusing on her sadistic, murderous goals while Clena acts as her passive but equally evil subordinate. While Killa and Clena roam around the real world, Shizuri stresses out over being unable to play her gacha games due to her focus on working while her friends show concern for her. Ayame is requested to take Shizuri’s smartphone away from her so she isn’t tempted by her video games, after which Shizuri collapses from exhaustion following her days of working as a maid.

At midnight, during a jogging session, Killa and Clena find Tsukasa and plot to kidnap him for their own agenda. Shizuri intervenes and warns Tsukasa not to fall for Killa’s tricks as they prepare to battle each other. Killa overwhelms Shizuri and injures her but Shizuri retains her desire to protect Tsukasa and continually halts Killa’s attacks on him regardless of her own conditions. Tsukasa reveals his acquirement of the power of the master as he defends Shizuri from Killa. Having used up her remaining energy, Kanna intervenes and orders Tsukasa and Shizuri to find a safe place for Tsukasa to heal Shizuri while she, Hina and Ayame battle the Ventors together. Ayame returns Shizuri’s smartphone to her, having provided her with the gems needed for her gacha games.

As Shizuri is healed, she laments that she has failed to protect Tsukasa once more, calling herself useless and apologizing for her lack of reliability. Tsukasa denies her statement, saying that he should apologize for not understanding her. Tsukasa leads into a confession of how he actually thinks of Shizuri, telling her that he wants her to be herself because who she is makes him feel like he’s worth something. Touched by his speech, Shizuri responds by kissing him for the first time and assuring him that she will always stay by his side. Motivated by his acceptance of her, Shizuri jumps back into her battle with Killa as the Yoma girl continues antagonizing her. To Killa’s irritation, Shizuri ignores her over a new gacha quest having come up on her smartphone.

Desperate to win, Shizuri continuously attempts to achieve the Gold Shiba on Inumusume while easily avoiding all of Killa’s attacks. Their equal failures result in both of them having a breakdown with Killa calling Shizuri out for wasting her time on playing gacha games. Shizuri retorts that she has a deep bond with the game and must pull the Gold Shiba for the sake of her friends. Killa, not understanding her, uses a blindness power to attack Shizuri from above. Shizuri ends up pulling the Gold Shiba which, by some means, gives her the power to defeat Killa as she descends upon her from above. Shizuri celebrates her win while Killa laments her failure. Shizuri claims that Killa does not understand the difficulty of pulling a gacha, something Killa can only respond to in utter disbelief. Irked by Shizuri’s misguided attitude towards the enemy, Kanna kicks her in the back of the head and lectures her on the fact that her ignorance towards Killa’s malice is extremely reckless. Having been defeated by the ninja, Killa tells the ninja that her only purpose is fighting and Shizuri is somehow stronger than her. Shizuri responds with a taunt than empathizing with Killa, unnerving the others watching her. Clena returns and tells Killa that their father discovered them breaking the rules to attack the ninja and the Yoma decide to leave together, returning back to the Yoma realm. Asked by Killa to do so, Shizuri tells them her name while disappointed by their arrogance before collapsing from fatigue.

Following the battle, Saya tells Tsukasa that he was able to activate the power of the master because of her nin nin technique, opening up the chakras needed to activate it at the cost of her ninjutsu magic, while lamenting that her own recklessness caused Shizuri’s suffering. Saya apologizes to Shizuri once she comically wakes up again as she tells the others to take care of her, after which Shizuri and Tsukasa are left alone after their first kiss, much to their embarrassment.

Quotes[]

Hina: Miss Shizuri! I'm sorry! You've done enough!
Shizuri: Hrm! What are you saying, Hina?! We're just now getting started!
Hina: It's okay... You got that gash because of me!
Shizuri: Hm? Oh no, this wound isn't because of you!
Hina: Please! I can't possibly be a bother to you anymore, Miss Shizuri!
Shizuri: What? But you're really not a bother at all!
Toru: Hina!
~ Shizuri showing compassion to Hina while training her to fight Yoma before Hina's master is revealed to be watching them.
Saya: Or maybe you plan on continuing that self-serving contract of yours?
Shizuri: I-I know that, but I just... I just!
Saya: How long do you plan to push your uselessness onto him?
Shizuri: [gasps, growls as she swings her sword] SHUT YOUR FAAAACE!
~ Shizuri thoroughly angered by Saya calling her useless to Tsukasa.
Tsukasa: Good morning. I see you're awake. How are your injuries?
Shizuri: Oh, they're fine.
Tsukasa: That's good. So you know-
Shizuri: Hey. I have something I wanna say: I'm going to stop being a NEET. Haha.
~ Shizuri declaring she will find a job for Tsukasa's sake, despite her role as a NEET.
Ayame: Listen, Miss Shizuri. Do you understand what you're saying right now? I'm associated with the village so if you give me your device with your info...
Shizuri: It's fine. [Ayame gasps] Ayame, you're hiding where I'm living now from the village, aren't you?
Ayame: So you're aware...
Shizuri: If you weren't, the assassins would have come.
Ayame: Um...
Shizuri: I physically recoil from your perversion, but if I ever need help, you always come running. My request is this: I just want you to be faithful to the rules. I guess when it all comes down to it, it's like the only thing I can trust about you
is your undying devoted loyalty.
Ayame: Really?
~ Shizuri complimenting Ayame Momochi on her loyalty, a contrast to her aggression towards her perversions.
In the past, when I couldn't protect you, I swore to myself that it would never happen again, but in the end, not only did I expose you to danger, I've put you through so much in the short time I've been with you that you've actually awakened your power because of my incompetency! [Shizuri punches the ground repeatedly] What kind of elite kunoichi does that?! I'm no guardian shinobi! [...] I'm just a slacker who couldn't protect you or the life that we created together! I'm... really, truly sorry, Tsu-chan.
~ Shizuri expressing remorse for failing to protect Tsukasa from Yoma after she gets injured by Killa Ventor during the final battle.
Himari: [thinking] Wh-What do I do? I came here in the heat of the moment but now I've realized that though I've talked with Mr. Atsumi, I've never talked to his girlfriend before!
Narrator: Himari had come back to her senses!
[Shizuri yelps, shocking Himari]
Shizuri: Sorry, sorry, I forgot to put the tea on!
Himari: It's okay, don't worry about it!
Shizuri: [thinking] ... What do I do? I let her in because she said she had something really important to tell me about Tsu-chan. It's slightly scary that it's a high school girl that I hardly know. I mean, a fundamental attribute of a NEET is being a loner who's afraid of strangers. That's it! I'm Bocchi the Kunoichi!
~ Shizuri's most famous quote, internally expressing anxiety over Himari's self-serving confrontation of her and referencing Hitori Gotoh, the titular character from Bocchi the Rock!.
Ayame: AYAMEEEE MOMOCHI BACK IN ACTION! I'm not worried about replenishing my energy! [Ayame exits the washroom] Now to make sure not be found by Shizuri. ...Ah! [a drunken Shizuri growls upon seeing Ayame wearing her clothes] I am just a panty kunoichi...?
Shizuri: Grr, go straight to- TO HELLLLLL!!! [Shizuri punches Ayame, sending her flying out of Tsukasa's apartment]
Ayame: [narration] Thank you for watching my last ep.
~ Shizuri and Ayame's final interaction together where a drunken Shizuri offers Ayame a well-deserved punishment for her perverted behavior towards her over the course of the series upon seeing Ayame shamelessly wearing her underwear.

Catchphrases[]

Are you hurt?
~ Shizuri asking if Tsukasa is hurt.

Heck yeah!
~ Shizuri's positive exclamation whenever she wins something.

Trivia[]

  • She is the only character on the wiki to have the unique forename of "Shizuri". This contrasts the more generic forenames of surrounding characters as Kanna, Tsukasa, Hina, and Toru are rather commonly used forenames for characters. The only other female character known by this forename is Shizuri Mugino from A Certain Magical Index, who is instead a villainous character.
  • Like the majority of rom-com heroines, the story that Shizuri is part of features very little conflict beyond a recurring minor hindrance, in her case the Yoma, making her rather simplistic in characterization and those who cause conflict for her only cause it on a small scale. This means that her admirability stems more from her ability to defeat said Yoma as the rest of her acts revolve around her relationship with Tsukasa Atsumi and the other ninjas.
  • Despite the title of the series, Shizuri is actually depicted as a gamer more often than an otaku and rarely displays an attraction towards anime in general, although she is seen watching one with Tsukasa.
  • Shizuri's origin series is 12 minutes per episode regarding its adaptation, which makes it five hours long in total as it is a 24-episode series. There are two extra episodes set on a beach and after Killa and Clena are banished to the human world, adding an extra 20 minutes to this duration. This also makes it a rare situation where an anime series is short in episode runtime but long in overall episode count as most anime series are multiple seasons of 20 minutes long, which usually totals to a few days of overall runtime. However, Shizuri's character arc ends on Episode 18 with the reveal of her backstory, making the episodes following it about additional character arcs.
  • Due to their similar appearances and characterizations, Shizuri has been compared to Hitori Gotoh from Bocchi the Rock! by fans of the series. Shizuri makes a direct reference to Hitori during Episode 22 when confronted by her stalker Himari Asakura, specifically saying "That's it! I'm Bocchi the Kunoichi!"
  • Shizuri appears to not need to wear glasses and she is capable of seeing without them, meaning it is likely she only wears them so the creator can implement the shining glasses element that anime traditionally uses for its characters.
  • Despite Saya Hazuki being Shizuri's mother, she does not inherit her immense wealth and in fact was not even aware she was the landlady for Tsukasa's apartment until her appearance in Episode 10. In fact, Shizuri is shown having to rely on Tsukasa for basic necessities throughout the course of the series, meaning she ultimately has no money of her own, let alone any inherited from Saya, throughout the entire story.
  • Of all characters besides Ayame, she is on the receiving end of abuse the most throughout the series as her fellow ninjas frequently engage in abusing her, she is exhausted when having to work in a job, has no financial stability even by her own admission, has to be on the receiving end of Ayame's perversions, constantly fails at video games, is the only character to actually be injured by a Yoma on-screen in both past and present, and even has her final kiss with Tsukasa be interrupted by Killa and Clena appearing again when they're banished by their father. Ironically, she suffers the most abuse after Tsukasa claims he will protect her during the fight against Killa as she nearly dies from a Yoma attack in the bath house, is punched into a wall by Yuzu after getting involved in her complicated relationship with her sister Kanna, has to deal with Himari Asakura getting directly involved in her love life when it isn't any of her business (and worse while Shizuri is alone and unsupervised in Tsukasa's apartment), has her phone break as a result of Hina's bad luck being at its strongest when she thought she saw Toru cheating on her, has to tolerate her friends getting drunk to deal with their problems, eventually incurring her to participate herself, and ends up being forced to live with her worst enemies in the final OVA.
  • In the final OVA in the series when Shizuri is forced to live with Killa and Clena after they attacked her and her friends during the final battle, she empathizes with their misfortune of being banished from the Yoma realm by their father and tries to help them live a normal life rather than rejecting them entirely. This contradicts her characterization as her reasonable opposition against the Yoma as a whole is why she ends up living with Tsukasa to begin with.
  • Shizuri is notably admired in-story for her actions as a ninja, especially by Ayame, something that rarely occurs with most characters in a written story - anime or otherwise - as characters are usually admired by others only when they oppose and defeat a powerful villain, not for who they actually are without achieving such a task.
