On December 24, 2017, Suguru Geto and his curse user allies led a largescale curse attack on the Japanese cities of Kyoto and Shinjuku in a conflict called the "Night Parade of A Hundred Demons." His goal was to gain a powerful cursed spirit under the control of a Jujutsu High student named Yuta Okkotsu and use it to defeat Gojo and fulfil his dream. Jujutsu sorcerers were deployed en masse to counter the threat. Shoko set up a makeshift shelter where she treated the numerous injured jujutsu sorcerers, though she was overwhelmed by the influx of patients. Geto was ultimately defeated by Yuta and then slain by his old best friend Satoru Gojo.
The Vessel of the King[]
In July 2018, a first-year Jujutsu High student named Yuji Itadori died in battle and was transferred to the school's morgue by Gojo and Ijichi where Shoko intended to study his corpse. Itadori had been the vessel for the most powerful curse ever known, Ryomen Sukuna. Though Itadori was usually able to keep Sukuna's will dormant, the King of Curses had managed to possess him during a mission. Itadori had then committed suicide so that the King of Curses couldn't use his body to kill his friend Megumi Fushiguro. As Shoko prepared to perform on autopsy on the late student, Sukuna, who was once again confined to the body, returned Yuji Itadori to life.
Shoko was both surprised and mildly disappointed at her test subject's revival. She quickly fetched him clothes while Gojo welcomed him back to the living. Shoko then went with a walk with Gojo, who requested that she keep Itadori's revival a secret. Itadori had attracted a lot of heat during his tenure at Jujutsu High due to his status as Sukuna's vessel, both from the Jujutsu higher-ups who wanted him executed and curses who wanted him for more sinister purposes. Gojo believed that by keeping Itadori's survival a secret, he could be trained without being put in anymore unnecessary danger. Shoko agreed to not tell anyone.
A few months later, in September, Itadori and the sorcerer Kento Nanami were sent to investigate curse-related deaths in a cinema in Kawasaki City. There they defeated and killed two curse-like creatures. The corpses of the creatures were brought to Shoko, who discovered that they were humans who had been transfigured using a cursed technique into monsters capable of utilizing cursed energy. Shoko made sure to let Itadori know that they had already died due to the shock of their transformations, and as such his conscious was clean in their deaths. She also told Hanami and Itadori to kill anymore transfigured people they found, as it would be a mercy.
Powers & Abilities[]
Powers[]
- Energy Manipulation: Jujutsu sorcerers are humans capable of perceiving and manipulating cursed energy, a type of naturally replenishing energy derived from the negative emotions that existed inside humans. Sorcerers have higher than average amounts of cursed energy and can draw upon their body's own supply of it to create supernatural phenomena. Rather rarely among jujutsu sorcerers, Shoko Ieiri is more proficient in using reverse cursed energy than regular cursed energy. Reverse cursed energy can be applied to perform a "reverse cursed technique," an extremely complicated type of cursed technique that involves shifting the natural negative state of cursed energy into positive energy capable of creating rather than destroying.
- Healing: The most common reverse cursed technique, though still quite rare, is the ability to heal the physical wounds sustained by oneself or another. By applying the creative nature of reverse cursed energy to damaged or lost flesh, it can be replaced with new undamaged cells. Reverse cursed energy healing can only rejuvenate damage to a certain point, however, sometimes scars can be left over after the fact. Healing via reverse cursed energy is Shoko Ieiri's speciality. Though the ability to heal oneself is very rare, the capability to heal others is even rarer. Shoko is one of only two known jujutsu sorcerers (alongside Yuta Okkotsu) who can heal others with reverse cursed energy. As a result, she is considered extremely valuable by jujutsu society.
Abilities[]
- Medical Knowledge: Shoko Ieiri has a comprehensive understanding of the biology of humans and curses alike. She also has a great understanding of the inner workings of cursed energy, despite herself only being proficient in the use of its reverse form. Her knowledge aids her in her use of reverse cursed energy healing and in her investigations of various unusual cursed energy and cursed spirit-related phenomena.
