The Shopkeeper is one of the two overarching protagonists (alongside Sylvia Sherwood) of the Spy × Family franchise. He is the leader of Garden as well as the boss of Yor Forger who assigns her the evil people who are threatening the peace between Ostania and Westalis so that she could stop their nefarious activities.

He is voiced by Junichi Suwabe (who also portrayed Eraser Head in My Hero Academia, Leone Abbacchio in JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Golden Wind, Archer in Fate/Stay Night, Dandy in Space Dandy, Yami Sukehiro in Black Clover, Lars Alexandersson in Tekken 6: Bloodline Rebellion, and Tetsuo Takahashi in Interviews with Monster Girls) in Japanese and by Jim Foronda in English.

Appearance

The Shopkeeper is an elderly man with a long face and greying hair. He is always seen in his gardening attire as well as his straw hat.

Personality

The Shopkeeper is an amiable man despite being the leader of highly dangerous assassins. A man who honors his debts, he arranged the sole survivors of the Gretcher Family - Olka and Gram - to be safely escorted out of Ostania to repay its leader.

Biography

Sometime in the past, the Shopkeeper owed a personal debt to the Gretcher Family, an honorable criminal family.

The Shopkeeper trained Yor Briar from her youth, making her a skilled assassin who is ready to stop the enemies of peace. He eventually led the Garden sometime before the present day.

Trivia

• The original concept for the Shopkeeper was "a kindly-looking old man, futzing around his garden," but this was changed into his current and final design. The original design for the Shopkeeper appears to be the same as his current one, with the addition of a black hat, glasses, and a long beard.
