Biography[]
Background[]
Rachael grew up in a small town, possibly in Brooklyn. She discovered her shrinking abilities as a child and following this, her parents did not let her have a normal childhood and made her train to eventually becoming a superhero. She eventually took the identity of Shrinking Rae. However, according to Rachel, most heroics she did were small-scale and there was only about one actual supervillain in a 200 mile radius of her home.
Joining the Guardians[]
At the Pentagon, Robot and Invincible look at many heroes lined up, who will be selected to be the new Guardians of the Globe. However, Robot wanted Invincible to try out as well, but Invincible told him that his father wanted to train him himself. Robot thanks everybody for showing up to the try outs.
Shrinking Rae competes against Man Kong and utilizes her shrinking powers against him. During their brief battle, Shrinking Rae shrinks and enters one of Man Kong's ears and manipulates his inner ear to provoke a violet fit of vomiting. Shrinking Rae is declared the winner.
Following the end of the try-outs, Shrinking Rae is chosen by Robot as a member of the new Guardians of the Globe along with Dupli-Kate, Rex Splode, Monster Girl, Robot, and Black Samson. They quickly move into the former Guardians of the Globe headquarters where a argument over training schedules and leadership breaks out, leading Rae to comment that the team needs teamwork.
Some time later, the new Guardians of the Globe celebrate a victory against the Lizard League. They all celebrate with beers though the celebration is quickly ended as Black Samson points out that their battle was sloppy, causing civilians to get hurt. The team argues and scatters once more, though they quickly band together when Cecil receives an anonymous call that Invincible is in great danger while fighting the villain known as Machine Head, who had hired several supervillains to fight for him, including Battle Beast. The Guardians arrive at Machine Head's penthouse to find Invincible heavily wounded, and they quickly attack the team of supervillains. However, the group of heroes are quickly routed allowing Battle Beast to nearly kill Invincible, Black Samson and Monster Girl. The Guardians of the Globe then rally and defeat the team of supervillains, with Shrinking Rae defeating the villains Magmaniac and Tether Tyrant. Following the destructive fight, Rae and the remaining Guardians capture Machine Head and get Invincible, Black Samson and Monster Girl to the Global Defense Agency for medical treatment.
Omni-Man Incident[]
Following the battle with Machine Head and the group of supervillains, Rae and the Guardians of the Globe undoubtedly continue to train together and deal with threats, although at a reduced capacity, until Black Samson and Monster Girl heal. Eventually the two recover and the Guardians surprise Monster Girl with a party upon her return to Guardians HQ. Rae shares a drink with Dupli-Kate, Rex and Monster Girl. Shortly after this, the Guardians are called to assemble by Cecil to confront an Apocalypse Level threat, who puts Rae and the others on stand-by. Robot, now in a organic teenage body grown in secret by the Mauler Twins, reveals himself as Rudy Connors, to which Rae and the other Guardians have a negative reaction to.
The Apocalypse Level threat is revealed to be Omni-Man, who engages in a extremely destructive fight with Invincible. Their fight spills over into the city of Chicago, killing hundreds and injuring thousands. The Guardians decide to disobey Cecil's orders and go to save what lives they can from the destruction. Omni-Man eventually flees from Earth and heads into deep space, ending the conflict. Rae and the other Guardians return to Guardians HQ, now a confident and united team.
Post Omni-Man Disappearance[]
One month after the Omni-Man incident, Rae and the rest of the Guardians are dealing with a giant creature attacking the city. After subduing the giant, Cecil appoints The Immortal as the new leader of the Guardians, along with a new hero called Bulletproof as extra muscle. Rae and the other Guardians are called in when the Lizard League return, with Supreme Lizard leading the group while they're attacking a bio research lab outside of Dallas. Before facing off against them, they encounter Shapesmith, who introduces himself to the group transformed as Rex before getting knocked back by Komodo Dragon. Right before they fight the Lizard League, Bulletproof asks the team if their missions are usually weird in which Rae responds by saying that he has no idea.
At one point, Rae is seen with the other guardians and other heroes to stop Omnipotus from ruling earth. Then she is seen with the guardians again interrogating Shapesmith who reveals all about himself and the sequids. Half of the guardians are sent into space, while her, Kate and Rex stay on earth, trying to order a pizza, but the Cecil summons forth them, and tells them they have a problem at military base.
Rae, Rex, and Kate fight the lizard league once more, but this time, the league has proven to be more formidable than their last encounter. Rae witnesses Komodo Dragon kill Dupli-Kate, and in retaliation she kills Salamander by exploding his brain from the inside. Komodo Dragon devours her when she tries to make the same attempt on him. She tries to burst out from within his body, but he resists, using his swollen physique, and seemingly crushes her within his engorged throat.
However, after Dragon's head was blown off and the GDA arrived, Rae is seen crawling out of Dragon's corpse, falling unconscious. Rae would be treated under extensive care by the Agency due to many of her bones breaking as she rests, recovering.
Back on the field[]
After 3 months, she would recover and rejoin the Guardians, discovering that Kate also survived. Upon Mark and Cecil's clash in their HQ, she sides with Mark and begins fighting against the ReAnimen. After learning of Cecil's schemes, Rex begins arguing with the Immortal, leading to Rae and Kate stepping in and taking sides. This inevitably leads to the Guardians splitting up, with Rae, Rex, Bulletproof, Monster Girl, and Robot all leaving the team.
Joining the teen team[]
After leaving the guardians, Rae, along with Rudy, Rex, Amanda, and Zandelle right away went back to the Teen Team headquarters. Rex showcases his room to Rae, not realizing how messy it is. The two bonded over their shared childhoods, Rae being groomed by her strict parents to become a hero and Rex being engineered by the government for the same reason.
Rex and Rae later go shopping to get stuff for the HQ. Rex expressed boredom at the activity but Rae stated she wanted to cook for the team. Rex suggested they order pizza instead while Rae persisted they cook something. Rex attempted to help in his own way, however their shopping trip is interrupted when a supervillain attacks outside. Rex ecstatically suited up with Rae reluctantly following. After their trip the two returned to HQ and announced they would order pizza for dinner.
Later on, Rex invited Rae to have dinner privately with him. Rex cooked homemade steaks and shared one of Immortal's wine bottles. Despite the awkwardness, Rae appreciated Rex's attempts at normalcy.
Rae later met Rex in his room in private and announced she wanted to retire from being a superhero and asked him to join her. Rex was defensive about quitting and didn't want to give up his hero life or his relationship with Rae. Rae invited him outside and the two continued their conversation outside HQ. Rae expressed she was traumatized from the near-death experience at the Wyoming base and suggested they retire before they actually die. Rex disagreed and revealed his lack of a public identity. Rex stated he had no life outside of being a superhero and he didn't want to give it up, but Rae insisted she was still leaving regardless. The two accepted their disagreement and embraced in a heartbroken kiss.
Invincible War[]
Rae's Big Break[]
Rex assisted Rae move into her new apartment and expressed happiness for her. The two flirted and Rae invited him into her bedroom. Their pleasant moment was interrupted by the destruction caused by the evil Invincibles. Rae suited up alongside Rex and offered to assist him. Rex suggested she stay out of the fight and she kissed him good luck.
Rex's Sacrifice[]
At Day 2, Shrinking Rae was driving in her car as she was afraid that Rex could be injured. As she arrived at the outside of the Teen Team's base, an explosion came at the top of Teen Team's base, revealing that Rex died.
Rex's Funeral[]
Rae was present at Rex's funeral, but chose to observe from afar. She is last seen breaking down in tears during Robot's eulogy.
Powers and Abilities[]
Powers[]
- Personal Size Manipulation (Size Reduction): Rae has the ability to alter her size at will and can do so almost instantly. She is shown to be able to make herself the size of a doll, a small child and even an ant. While being small she has human sized strength. While Rae can grow from a smaller size to burst out of some objects, denser material (such as Komodo Dragon's body) will crush her instantly if she attempts to grow from a small size while trapped by them.
