It was you who rescued me? Why, thank you. I am Sieglinde of Catarina. I don't know how I ended up in that crystal... It wasn't terrible in there, but I could hardly move. I must think of some way to repay you.
~ Sieglinde of Catarina after being saved by the Chosen Undead.

Sieglinde of Catarina is a secondary character in the 2011 action role-playing game Dark Souls.

She is a young warrior from Catarina who came to Lordran to find her father, Siegmeyer, to pass on her mother's last words to him. During her journey, she was captured and imprisoned in a golden crystal golem, but was saved by the Chosen Undead.

She was voiced by Charlie Cameron, who also voiced Reah of Thorolund.

Biography[]

She is first encountered in the Duke's Archives, before entering the Crystal Cave. Sieglinde was imprisoned inside a golden crystal golem. After defeating it, Sieglinde was freed and thanked the Chosen Undead for his help, then asked him if he had seen her father, Siegmeyer. If the protagonist answered "yes", Sieglinde would thank him again, hoping that she would find her father quickly and that he would not get into any trouble.

The protagonist then met Sieglinde standing in front of the bonfire in the Firelink Shrine. If he helped Siegmeyer in Lost Izalith, together with him defeating a group of Chaos Eaters, he could inform his daughter of his current location. After that, the young warrior thanked the Chosen Undead once again, hoping that she would finally find her father and pass on to him the last words of her deceased mother.

The last time the protagonist met Sieglinde was near the first bonfire near Ash Lake. Unfortunately, Siegmeyer's daughter was forced to kill her own father after he lost his mind due to his lost pride caused by having to rely on others for help at every opportunity, and then became hollow. Sieglinde began to despair over Siegmeyer's dead body, after which she thanked the Chosen Undead for his help, giving him a titanite ingot as a reward. After that, she most likely returned to her homeland, Catarina.

Trivia[]

  • The name Sieglinde is likely a reference a character of that name in Wagner's Die Walküre, a German opera inspired by Norse mythology.
  • Unlike most other NPCs, Sieglinde may not be Undead. In the text dump, Siegmeyer laments the fact that Sieglinde came all the way to Lordran to find him, and that such an action is dangerous due to her status as a "normal" human. After she completes her quest, Sieglinde mentions that she is "returning to Catarina"—one of the few places that is never mentioned to be undead. Since the undead and hollow are abhorred by the rest of the world, she would not otherwise be able to return to her home, unless she herself was not undead.
