Silver the Hedgehog is a major protagonist of the Sonic the Comic Online! webcomic, the "unofficially official" continuation of Sonic the Comic comic book series. He is a psychokinetic hedgehog from 70 years into the future, a time when the world had been ravaged by the monster only known to him as "the Iblis", whose emergence he seeks to prevent from happening in the first place.

Background[]
Silver was born on Mobius roughly five-six decades into the future. The planet suffered from the terror of Super Sonic, known to the populace as "Iblis", who had permanently taken over his host's body and destroyed every living thing he came across. Silver worked with G.U.N. to fight the Iblis off, and was mostly successful, but even with his help they never made much progress.
Sonic the Comic Online![]
After another day of leading survivors of Iblis' attacks into a shelter, Silver told Commander Steele that the Mobians wouldn't be able to last much longer. Dr. Gerald revealed that he had a way to put an end to Iblis permanently by travelling into the past prior to his emergence and preventing it from happening. He had constructed a time machine using what remained of the Omni-Viewer, but the Chaos Emeralds were needed to power it. Silver was sent to the Floating Island to fetch them, where he encountered the emeralds' elderly and nihilistic guardian. He convinced the guardian to let him take the gems and escape the collapsing island with him. Although the emeralds managed to activate the time machine, they also drew the Iblis close to their shelter. While the G.U.N. remnants defiantly attempted to hold the beast off, Silver was forced into the time portal, which sent him 70 years into the past.
As soon as he was at his destination, Silver began searching for the "Iblis Trigger", eventually coming to the conclusion that it was Sonic the Hedgehog. During his journey, he encountered a fellow time traveller, Blaze, in at least one timeline born from the time loop she was stuck in, and the two realized they had different accounts of the "burning" by Iblis and Sonic's role in it. Nevertheless, Silver determined to kill Sonic before he could go Super, in spite of his former allies' protests. When he finally got the chance to do this, however, he was stopped by the Death-Trap, who captured Sonic themselves and took him to Dexter Bagstille, who turned him into Super Sonic and soon after lost control over him. Silver subsequently teamed up with the Freedom Fighters to prevent Super Sonic from destroying them, and help them defeat the monster by draining him of his Chaos Energy.
With Super Sonic gone for now, the bad future Silver came from was averted, but it meant that everyone and everything from it was erased from existence. Silver came to realize this when he lost both his psychokinesis powers and the A.G. computer, and heard the story of the Metallix's demise from Tails. Silver himself started fading away, but was saved by Tails and Femni-Viewer, who transported him to the Miracle Planet and used the Time Stones to secure his existence. Silver thus remained in the past, continuing to fight evil and helping ensure a better future for Mobius.
