Whatever life holds in store for me, I will never forget these words: "With great power comes great responsibility."

Silverbolt (シルバーボルト Shirubāboruto) is the leader of the Aerialbots who transforms into a Concorde jetliner plane. He was created by Optimus Prime and the other Autobots out of an old cybertronian plane into an Earth Concorde jet plane on Cybertron and was brought to life by Vector Sigma. He is the lead robot who combines with Slingshot, Fireflight, Air Raid and Skydive into the heroic Superion. He usually transports humans and other Autobots while in his Concorde jet mode. And he was voiced by Charlie Adler.
Biography[]
Cartoon[]
Silverbolt first appeared in the second part of "The Key to Vector Sigma", where he was constructed on Cybertron by the Autobots and brought back to Earth. He was created from a low-altitude craft, so suffered from a fear of heights. Optimus Prime attempted to mitigate this by making him the leader of the Aerialbots. After an early encounter with humans saw them treated with suspicion, Silverbolt helped teach the other Aerialbots the value of humans, pointing to the way Sparkplug Witwicky worked on repairing Omega Supreme. The Aerialbots thus helped defeat a raid by the Stunticons, with Silverbolt personally recovering the Vector Sigma Key from Megatron.
Silverbolt continued to have trouble getting through to the other Aerialbots in "War Dawn", where they expressed admiration for the Decepticons. The quintet ended up being transported back into Cybertron's past and witnessing the beginning of the war, seeing the friendly technician Orion Pax shot down by Decepticons and rebuilt as Optimus Prime. They returned to the present and defeated the Decepticons again.
Unlike some second season Autobots, Silverbolt continued to appear in the aftermath of The Transformers: The Movie. In "Five Faces of Darkness", he led the Aerialbots in rescuing Ultra Magnus, Kup and Spike Witwicky from the Quintessons. He was among those infected by the Hate Plague in "The Return of Optimus Prime". In the series finale "The Rebirth", he helped defend Cybertron from a Decepticon attack but was defeated by the Combaticons.
Comics[]
Silverbolt first appeared in the UK-exclusive story "Second Generation", where Optimus Prime and Buster Witwicky saw him in a vision of the future, leading the Aerialbots in assisting the Protectobots in protecting a power plant from Menasor and Bruticus. He was brought online in US Issue #21, where Optimus Prime sent him and the other Aerialbots to stop the Decepticons' plan to gain control of hydro-electric power. They fought the newly-arrived Decepticon planes Thrust, Dirge and Ramjet, with Silverbolt, the only one fully programmed, having to order the others not to endanger humans.
Optimus Prime had the Aerialbots reprogrammed and sent to stop the rampage of the Stunticons. However, their efforts were hampered by the robot hunter Circuit Breaker and the government anti-robot team RAAT, who interfered in a fight between Superion and Menasor and captured the Aerialbots. Circuit Breaker eventually released them and several other captive Autobots in return for their help stopping the Battlechargers.
Silverbolt made a few more minor appearances, being among the team who discovered the remains of a facsimile Optimus Prime in "Prey", attempting to retrieve the destroyed Bumblebee and taking part in the attack on the Decepticons' base in the G.I. Joe and the Transformers miniseries, and among the senior Autobots choosing a new leader in US Issue #27, but his appearances became fewer. In Issue #50, he was among the casualties of the Underbase-powered Starscream, who deactivated him during his attack on New York.
He reappeared in Issue #75 among the Autobots revived by Grimlock with nucleon and brought as reinforcements to the battle with Unicron. He acted as the Autobots' pilot as they pursued the Decepticons to Klo. He was among the Autobots deactivated in the Decepticons' ambush but was presumably revived by the Last Autobot.
In Marvel UK's "Earthforce" storyline, he was one of the Autobots revived by Galvatron, who tried to brainwash them with memories of their darkest moments: In Silverbolt's case, when his Aerialbots learned of his agoraphobia during a battle with Menasor, which led to him to cause Superion to go berserk and endanger lives. He joined Grimlock's Autobot Earthforce and, aside from appearing as part of Superion in "Inside Story", made his last appearance in "The House that Wheeljack Built", sending the other Aerialbots to act as air cover for Prowl after Wheeljack turned on their base's defences while all the Autobots were outside, meaning they had to fight their way back in to shut them off.
Personality[]
Silverbolt takes the persona of an brave and determined warrior, but he struggles to maintain that image in order to hide his acrophobia. Due to this problem, he is selected by Optimus Prime to lead the Aerialbots so he would be too busy worrying about others to worry about himself. Such decision is proven to be helpful as Silverbolt shows himself as an excellent commander.
Unlike his teammates who initially questioned about the Autobots' competence and considered human unworthy of protection, Silverbolt had more positive attitude. He then successfully convinced his teammates to assist the Autobot in protecting human.
