Simo Häyhä is a supporting character in the manga/anime series Record of Ragnarok.
Known as the White Death, Simo is considered the deadliest sniper in human history, having killed 542 Soviet soldiers during the Winter War, which earned him the title Greatest Sniper in Human History. However, deep down, he deeply regrets his action of killing fellow humans. When Ragnarok is announced, Simo is chosen as one of humanity's representatives, the Einherjar, in hope that Ragnarok will be his "salvation" for the many lives he has taken.
Appearance[]
Simo is a young man of medium build, wearing a white hooded-winter coat with lines that appear to form the Finnish flag. He also wears thick black pants to keep himself warm. He also wears greenish gloves, a silver belt that extends from his right shoulder to his left waist, and a pair of lappish boots. Simo wears a woolen gaiter to cover his face, which has been damaged by a ricocheting bullet. During the Winter War, Simo wore a mask that covered his entire face except for his eyes.
Personality[]
Simo puts on a facade of a calm, cool, stoic, and level-headed man who shows almost no emotion whatsoever. This is demonstrated when Loki sends an army of clones to attack him, Simo shows no reaction to the clones whatsoever. He is also indifferent to the threats and taunts of the God of Mischief, demonstrating his level-headedness. However, beneath this facade, Simo is a incredibly remorseful man. Although Simo fought to protect his country, Simo feels a deep pain for having killed fellow humans, causing him to frequently experience severe breakdowns that leave him unable to sleep. He considers his killings unforgivable and believes that the only way he can redeem himself is by experiencing pain, which leads him to sacrifice his internal organs as bullets, believing this would be his "salvation."
Simo appears to be a patriot, as he is often seen giving a military salute and his primary reason for participating in the Winter War and Ragnarok was to protect his country, Finland. Simo also appears very confident, preferring to fight Loki alone, believing he can defeat the God with his own abilities.
Simo also shows a high level of respect, as after killing Loki, he kneels and shows his rifle at the God before the latter crumbles to dust, showing that despite being his enemy, Simo respects Loki as an opponent. Simo also loves his dog, Kille, very much, telling her to wait for him at the entrance so that she doesn't have to get hurt during the battle. This makes Kille always loyal to him and shows concern when Simo falls unconscious after round 11, and then becomes happy when he wakes up.
Simo has a habit of counting his victims every time he successfully shoots one, and this continues in Valhalla, where after killing Loki, Simo updates his victim count to 543.
