Sion Ulster is a major character in the action fantasy anime and manga series Wistoria: Wand and Sword. He is a student at Ligarden Magic Academy.
He is voiced by Masaaki Mizunaka in Japanese and by Brandon Acosta in English.
Appearance[]
Sion is a slender teenage boy with medium-length red hair, styled with a prominent fringe that falls over his right eye and sharp red eyes. As a student of Ligarden Academy, he wears the black standard student uniform, comprised of a black shirt with a high collar, adorned with a decorative black ribbon tied at the neck, and a deep purple gemstone in the center. Over his shoulders is a long black cloak draped over his shoulders, lined with a gold trim that adds a regal touch to his appearance. The cloak is fastened with two large, gold buttons on either side of his shoulders and his attire completes with dark, fitted trousers, and black shoes.
Personality[]
Initially, Sion appeared to be a boy with no caring side outside of his prideful, arrogant, and power-hungry nature, similarly to Julius. His malicious obsession over Will Serfort makes him easily look down on him, constantly mocking and bullying latter since his target is magicless and possesses "no talent", an opinion that he and most of the students share. But out of most of the students, his arrogance even led him to wander into the floor of the dungeon that Will was gonna explore when Sion eardrops that it was his destination. His pride and excitement to prevent Will's goals prevented him from anticipating the potential dangers that the dungeon could have, almost costing him his life when two of his comrades are seemingly killed by a beast of the dungeon attacked by surprise. Fearing for his life as his fire magic is immune to beast, Sion is shocked when Will arrived on the scene to save him by fighting the monster. However, instead of gratitude and respect, the only shift in his view of Will turned to jealousy. This gave him the deep desire to become more powerful, enough to defeat monsters of such danger that Sion almost died at the hands of. Furthermore following the incident, Sion expressed his irritation over Will whom he deemed incompetent when all the other students believed that Sion was the one who took down the powerful beast.
At some time before the tournament of the school, Sion is also confused when Julius lays his attention over Will instead of him, questioning what happened between the two of them. His obsession over Will led Sion to challenge him into a fight amid the tournament in front of the whole school, despite being on the same team as him, for the sole purpose of wanting to prove he is superior in overall powers. Despite hatred for him, Sion does not play dirty, telling Will to pick his sword so he can fight him evenly.
Overtime, Sion finally grew respect over Will alongside the rest his classmates, when the boy had proved that he holds a power that no student can achieve when he confronted the beast during the terroristic attack.
