Sir Archibald Fotherington-Smythe is the minor protagonist in the Call of Duty: Black Ops 6's zombies mode. He is an explorer and an archeologist hired by Alistair Rhodes to recover The Sentinel Artifact in Avalon, Participated in the International Exposition in Belgium, uncovered The Staff of Ice. After his death and his men's deaths by Zombies and Mimics, Sir Archibald helps The Ex-Requiem Crew Retrieve The Staff of Ice and The Sentinel Artifact.
Biography[]
Sir Archibald Fotherington-Smythe is an archeologist, who was personally acquainted with a famous treasure hunter and archeologist Alistair Rhodes. In 1908, Sir Archibald was invited by Alistair to his home, where he requested Sir Archibald to conduct an expedition into a burial mound of Roman origin in The Principality of Avalon, in order to find a relic known as The Sentinel Artifact. At first, Sir Archibald refuses due to Alistair's request about finding about publishing his findings publicly, But Alistair proposed that he would help Sir Archibald resolve a personal conflict with The Egyptian Government, allowing him to continue his activities there. Sir Archibald agrees about it after negotiating for several cases of 1870s Claret wine that Alistair possessed and given a special monocle.
The Same year later, Sir Archibald and his Expedition Crew arrives at the Tomb, where they began excavating to find a way in. Sir Archibald also made recordings of his progress, and messages to his wife Majorie. After three days of digging, Sir Archibald's crew manages to open The Door to Nowhere, which led them into a Dark Aether Nexus. Noticing The Sentinel Artifact floating in a distance, Sir Archibald orders and urges his men to find a way to cross the gap. They managed to uncover the ancient Staff of Ice and used it to fend off the waves of Zombies attacking them in the Nexus and around the excavation site. Sir Archibald's men also suffered great losses and casualties due to Sir Archibald's own incompetence, evidenced by an incident in which he triggered an arrow trap that killed several of them. As the work on the excavation site continued, Sir Archibald's crew shrank in size, after losing more of his crew to The Ancient Trials that were required to open the path to The Sentinel Artifact. Suddenly, Sir Archibald was the last man standing, with the path to the Artifact fully opened. As he made his way toward it, He notices something revealing a decanter on the ground and assumes it to be left behind his deceased valet Bernard Potts, he attempted to pick up and only for the decanter to reveal itself as a Mimic in disguise. Just then, Archibald then says his last words, "Mother." before succumbing to his death and being killed by The Mimic and shallowed the monocle.
In February 1991, Grigori Weaver and Requiem Operatives, Elizabeth Grey, Mackenzie Carver, Maya Aguinaldo, Oskar Strauss, Stoney "Raptor One" Maddox, Sergei Ravenov and William Peck arrived at The Excavation Site in searching of The Sentinel Artifact. The Obscurus Altilium, The Amulet in their possession, channeled echoes from the past, allowing The Ex-Requiem Crew to hear Sir Archibald's voice from 1908, detailing his expedition up to his final moment for the crew. It is known that The Ex-Requiem Crew retrieved The Sentinel Artifact with The help of Sir Archibald, much to The Ex-Requiem Crew's success after retrieving the monocle.
