Yes, I believe the time is now! Let us rush forward so that we may strike a crushing blow against the Black Tyrant who imprisoned me!
~ Sir Galleth to Sly

Sir Galleth Cooper is one of the supporting characters in the Sly Cooper series. He was Sly's ancestor from Medieval England. He was an honorable knight and cunning thief who fought with a lance in the shape of the Cooper Cane. When a mysterious figure known as the Black Tyrant came to town, Galleth was imprisoned in a "Mad Circus" and forced to play the humiliating role of a jester. Thieves in Time makes him a playable character, after Sly rescues him.

He was voiced by Yuri Lowenthal.

Appearance[]

Sir Galleth is a gray raccoon with brown eyes. He wears a metal helmet that has a long yellow and orange feather sticking out of the top of it, and a blue domino mask. His attire consists of a suit of chainmail with red and yellow cloth on his shoulders and around his waist, as well as brown pants and gloves. On his hip is a sword. His cane is in the typical shape, but has the handle of a lance, though he often held it near the crook. He also has a goatee on his face.

History[]

Title[]

Sir Galleth Cooper was possibly part of a court as his knighted preface "Sir" suggests. This could have been a self-given title, seeing as he had his own order of knights.

Sly Cooper: Thieves in Time[]

Described as being very bombastic and chivalrous, Sir Galleth gets his cane stolen and is captured and imprisoned in a type of "Mad Circus" in 1301 AD by a villain known only as the Black Knight, something that was most likely done for the king's entertainment. The villain proceeds to not only humiliate Sir Galleth by making a fool, mockery, and literal jester of him, but taking over England and taking over the castle in the process as well, thus changing history. According to Galleth, he was imprisoned for about a fortnight (two weeks). With his Archer Costume, Sly rescues him from the circus and takes him back to the hideout where Galleth revealed how he was captured. Sly later informed Galleth that he was his descendant though it is suggested that while Galleth believed him, he was more focused on only getting revenge.

The Cooper Gang helped him take down the "Black Tyrant" a.k.a Black Knight. Sir Galleth then faces off a mechanical three-headed dragon known as the Moat Monster. However, he got swallowed and Carmelita manages to save him. The Interpol officer kept the rescue as a secret between them as "being saved by such a fair maiden wounds his heart". During the climax on Le Paradox's blimp, Sir Galleth and the other ancestors arrive to retrieve their canes and return to their timelines.

Sir Galleth returned to his heroic adventures and went on to form the Knights of the Cooper Order, a gallant group that stole from corrupt nobility. He also became a successful (and overly dramatic) actor.

Sir Galleth soon gets his usual armor back. He possesses abilities that he didn't write in the Thievius Raccoonus, such as the Catapult Crash in which he can break through barriers while climbing on wall hooks. He can also use a variation of the Ninja Spire Jump (later perfected by Rioichi Cooper a couple of centuries after Galleth), as well as a form of the Rail Walk, which "Tennessee Kid" Cooper didn't invent for several centuries. However, like Rioichi, Sir Galleth may not have included these moves in the Thievius Raccoonus or he may have learned them during his time in the circus.

Galleth eventually passed away. While the exact cause of his death is unknown, Clockwerk could be the most likely reason.

Abilities[]

Sir Galleth Cooper's Lance

Sir Galleth Cooper's lance

Sir Galleth perfected the Wall Hook move thanks to his elongated Lance Cane and created his own variation "The Catapult Crash". However, despite his bravado and gallantry, Sly has found that Sir Galleth isn't exactly as skilled as he depicted himself in the Thievius Raccoonus. However, Sir Galleth isn't all talk with no show, as he can combat a small army by himself and complete his assigned jobs quickly. However, his true problems lie in his over confidence in his abilities.

Personality[]

As a knight, Sir Galleth had a bombastic, arrogant and over-dramatic personality, proving to Sly and the gang that he is not as skilled as the Thievius Raccoonusdetailed him to be, and is also quite proud as shown when, after being saved from the mechanical “Moat Monster” by Carmelita, he made her promise to keep it a secret between them as being "rescue[d] by a fair damsel wounds [him] deepest."

He speaks in a heavy medieval English accent similar to how "Tennessee Kid" Cooper speaks in a southern American "cowboy" accent. It is suggested that they may not understand each other much as Tennessee stated when in Le Paradox's blimp that Sir Galleth "talks funnier than a two headed jackalope." He also shows great respect to the Coopers before him as he refers to Salim as "Sir Salim" in the blimp.

He is charming, good-hearted and headstrong.
