The Adepta Sororitas, more commonly known as the Sisters of Battle, are major protagonists in Warhammer 40k. An all female sisterhood, they serve as the military branch of the Ecclesiarchy, the official church state of the Imperium of Man. With varying Orders within the army, they fulfill several different purposes, ranging from the combat medics and healers of the Orders Hospitaller to the fanatical Order of Our Martyred Lady, who bring judgement and wrath to the foes of the Imperium.

Every single member of the Adepta Sororitas, even the ones who are members of non-violent and supportive factions, are all trained to the highest degree in all forms of combat, making each woman a powerful and dangerous warrior in her own right. The most famous attribute to the Sisterhood is their unshakable, unrestrained faith in the Emperor of Mankind as the one true god. Corrupting a Sister of Battle to Chaos is almost outright impossible, and while certain instances have occurred they are unfathomably rare, as a Sister's faith in The Emperor can be outright crazed and fanatic in her commitment to it. It is this faith that lets them achieve impossible feats, such as miraculous victories in unwinnable situations, and outright magical acts of pure miracles. They are equipped with their own protective power armor in the same vein as the Adeptus Astartes, and wield deadly bolters of their own as well.
The Sisters of Battles are divided into various Orders with each their own preferred combat doctrine, but by far the most famous members revered and feared across the galaxy is the Order of Our Martyred Lady. Members of this order serve as the mascot of the Sororitas, and are composed of the most dangerous and fanatical warriors that the entire organization can bring to bear.
