Slapdash is a minor character in the Transformers franchise, especially Generation One. The original version of the character came from the 1988 toyline.

Biography[]

First appearing in Marvel US Issue #41, Slapdash was one of a trio of Autobots, along with Getaway and Joyride, left to guard the Steelhaven when most of the Autobots gathered on the moon. When the Decepticons attacked, Goldbug commandeered the ship and crew to travel to Nebulos in the hope of reviving Optimus Prime.

On arrival, the group learns Nebulos' fuel had been poisoned to prevent further Transformer intervention, but two Decepticons, Dreadwind and Darkwing, had undergone a binary-bonding process to become Powermasters and were raiding the planet. The Autobots enlisted the help of the Nebulan scientist HiQ to construct a new body for Optimus Prime. Afterwards, HiQ and most of his assistants volunteered to be Powermaster partners to the Autobots, with Slapdash being bonded with Lube. Together, they drove the Decepticons from Nebulos. In Issue #44, Slapdash made his last Marvel US appearance for some time, being shown en route to Earth.

In the UK-exclusive story "Cold Comfort and Joy", Slapdash and the other Autobot Powermasters accompanied Optimus Prime on his first trip to Earth. Investigating a report of giant robot activity at a nearby town and expecting Decepticons, Slapdash, Getaway and Joyride tracked down the culprits only to find Sandstorm, Broadside and Inferno and learns the whole thing had been a misunderstanding.

Slapdash appeared prominently in the UK annuals. In "Dreadwing Down", he and the other Autobot Powermasters investigated a crashed Dreadwing to recover some fuel cells and ended up fighting the Seacons. In "Prime Bomb", he tried to stop Scorponok's Decepticons raiding the complex where Optimus Prime's spare personality disc was kept but his involvement was limited since he had left Lube behind and was unable to transform. He was seen in US Issue #56 among the Autobots accompanying Optimus Prime to confront the Air Strike Patrol and aboard the Ark prior to Thunderwing's attack in "Assault on the Ark".

In the last issue of the Marvel US series, Issue #80, Slapdash was one of the Autobots left lying deactivated after Bludgeon's ambush. He was presumably revived by the Last Autobot.
