Where there is Smoke, there is fire!
~ Smoke's Battle Cry in Mortal Kombat (2011)

Smoke is a Lin Kuei assassin and a hero in the Mortal Kombat series. He was transformed into a cyborg in the original timeline.

Smoke also known as Tomas Vrbada, is a member of the Lin Kuei. He is a close friend and ally of the younger Sub-Zero (Formerly Tundra) Kuai Liang.

Mortal Kombat II

Smoke was orignally a secret character along with Jade. He was then a human.

Mortal Kombat 3

Smoke then became a cyborg along with Cyrax and Sektor as punishment for quitting the Lin Kuei, but managed to retain his human soul and fought for the heroes against Shao Kahn. He was orignally programmed to kill his friend Sub-Zero, but retained his soul after Sub-Zero got through to him and became one of Raiden's chosen warriors until his defeat and imprisonment by the Emperor.

Mortal Kombat: Armageddon

Smoke was fighting with the Forces of Good against the Forces of Evil after he was freed from Noob Saibot's reprogramming.

Mortal Kombat (2011)

Smoke, along with the Sub-Zero, split to find the murderer of the Elder Sub-Zero. While searching for Shang Tsung and defeating him and Reptile, he nearly got automated by the Lin Kuei, but was saved by Raiden and allied up the Earthrealm Warriors.

Mortal Kombat X

Smoke, like most of his comrades, were resurrected by Quan Chi back in the last game to serve him and Shinnok.

Powers and Abilities

As a human, Smoke had the ability to emit smoke, most commonly seen as the smoky fumes that his human forms emit. He still seems to retain this ability in his cyborg form, though he doesn't seem to use it much. Smoke usually uses this ability to disappear or create a cloud of fumes that his opponent chokes on, making them open to an attack. After becoming a nanotech based cyborg, his body appears to be made of smoke or nanites emulating the appearance of smoke. Smoke also gained the ability to transform others into shadow warriors by flowing his gaseous mist into them.
