~ Sol confesses killing Aniseya to Osha. Also, his last words. |
Master Sol is the deuteragonist of the 2024 Disney+ series, The Acolyte.
He is a wise Jedi Master who was dragged into a murder investigation that reunited him with his former Padawan, Osha Aniseya.
He is portrayed by Lee Jung-jae, who also plays Seong Gi-hun in Squid Game.
Personality[]
Sol was a wise and compassionate Jedi Master. He was typically patient and kind for lower ranked and Padawan Jedi; sometimes, he would express mild frustration with the immaturity of some, but would remain calm and considerate of them.
However, he failed to adhere to the Jedi principle of emotional detachment, as 16 years ago, upon discovering the children Osha and Mae, and fearing the sinister if nebulous intentions of their Witch Cult, he became heavily invested in saving them. As the sisters were caught in a near-death situation, Sol attempted to save both with the Force, but needed to drop Mae to save Osha.
Sol's emotional weakness also led him to keep secrets, since he executed Osha's mother in self-defense, yet feared losing her so much that he never admitted it during the years that she was his student. In a misguided attempt to belay Osha's grief in one aspect, he lied about the fire started by Mae being the thing that killed her mother. His guilt undermined his ability as a teacher, which left him unable to help Osha overcome her grief, while struggling with his own, along with the remorse. Even after Osha left, Sol couldn't bring himself to reveal the truth out of fear of preventing her implausible return.
He could be provoked to displaying violence unbecoming of a Jedi, since he was inclined to kill the Stranger after each time he defeated the Sith, in retaliation for the villain's murderous actions and manipulations, but was convinced not to once, and had his lightsaber stolen in a fast ambush for the second time. Part of his desire to kill the Stranger may be related to the latter's unclear estrangement from his Jedi Master Rwoh.
When Sol was coaxed into confessing his killing of Mae and Osha's mother, he became close to blubbering his excuses and justifications when he realised Osha was witness to his confession. As Osha fell to the dark side of the Force and was strangling him with a Force choke, Sol remained compassionate for her, using his last breaths to reassure her that it was okay, and he neither condemned nor blamed her for his murder.

Abilities[]
- Master Lightsaber Duelist - Although he prefers to avoid using it, Sol is an exemplary lightsaber duelist, even proving able go toe-to-toe against the Sith Lord known only as "The Stranger", a remarkable feat considering that no Jedi had encountered a Sith Lord in centuries. He managed to defeat him both times, only prevented from killing him due to Osha's encouragement to be merciful, and then Mae stealthily stealing his lightsaber.
- Master Martial Artist - Sol proved to be a formidable hand-to-hand combatant, managing to defeat Mae and disarm her. He also briefly gained the upper hand against the Stranger by disarming him and engaging him unarmed, though only for a short amount of time. Even when younger he was able to fight against the Witch Koril, defeating her in hand-to-hand.
- Spaceship Pilot: He was able to fly a ship through an asteroid belt without losing sight of a smaller and faster craft.
