Sol Soria is a supporting character in the 2021 DC Extended Universe film The Suicide Squad.
She is the leader of the Maltese resistance who wants to topple Silvio Luna's regime, and works with the Suicide Squad when they arrive to destroy all evidence of Project Starfish.
She was portrayed by Alice Braga.
Biography[]
Background[]
Not much is known about Sol Soria, but she was born in Corto Maltese and lived with her family until they were killed by the island's dictator Silvio Luna. Wanting to avenge their deaths, Soria created her own rebellion known as the Maltese Resistance to topple Luna's regime.
The Suicide Squad[]
When the Suicide Squad were sent to Corto Maltese to destroy all evidence of Project Starfish, the first squad was massacred on the beach by the Corto Maltese Armed Forces due to Blackguard's treachery. The first squad's leader Rick Flag managed to escape and encountered Soria, who gave him shelter and protection. The second task force under the leadership of Bloodsport arrived and learned of Flag's survival, and Amanda Waller tasked them to look for him. Bloodsport and his teammates Peacemaker and Polka Dot Man killed several of Sol's subordinates since they believed they were Luna's soldiers, but soon realized their mistake when encountering Flag and Soria having a conversation.
Though angered and frustrated by the Suicide Squad's actions, she agreed to help him if they assisted her in rescued Milton from the armed forces. She then helped the squad by giving them information on Project Starfish's lead scientist Gaius Grieves, telling them that he spends time at a local club. While the Suicide Squad infiltrated Jotunheim, they drew the attention of Luna's men, thus leaving his base short on protection. Soria and her rebels used this to their advantage to infiltrate Luna's building and eliminated Vera, who had taken leadership due to Mateo Suarez was taken by Starro the Conqueror. Celebrating her victory with her subordinates, Soria was interviewed on live-television while the Suicide Squad eliminated Starro.
