Unnngh...are you the boy from the forest...? I-I-I have something to t-t-tell you... Ganondorf, the Gerudo King of Thieves, betrayed our King... Zelda's nanny, Impa, sensed danger and escaped from the castle with our Princess... I tried to stop Ganondorf's men from chasing them... But the Princess was... waiting for a boy from the forest... that's you... She wanted to give something to the boy... If you received it from the Princess, hurry... to the Temple of Time....
~ The soldier's last words before he passes away after being mortally wounded by Ganondorf and his men.
He's not moving anymore.
~ Navi informing Link after the Soldier dies.

The Soldier in the Back Alley is the unnamed minor protagonist featured in The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, its alternate version Master Quest, and in the 3D remake as well.

The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time

After Link receives the Ocarina of Time from Princess Zelda during her escape, he then goes to the Back Alley and sees a dying soldier, who encounters him by recognizing him from Zelda's descriptions as "The Forest Boy". The soldier talks about how he was among the soldiers trying to protect Zelda and Impa from Ganondorf and his army, and the soldier then with his final breath orders Link to go to the Temple of Time before passing away. If Link tries to continue talking to him, Navi informs him "He's not moving anymore."

Link goes to Temple of Time, places the three Spiritual Stones to open the Door of Time, and then gets the Master Sword in order to avenge the Soldier who died from mortal wounds.

Link manages to get the Six Sages to aid in defeating Ganondorf, thus avenging the Soldier. Afterwards, Link then returns to his childhood to find a precious friend.
