Sonic the Hedgehog is the titular main protagonist of the animated television series, Sonic Underground, which takes place in an alternate universe.
He is an anthropomorphic hedgehog and the crown prince of Mobius who must travel and search for his mother, Queen Aleena, and stop Dr. Robotnik with the help of his two siblings Sonia and Manic whom he has a band with. He is also the leader of the Sonic Underground and one of the current leaders of the Freedom Fighters along with Manic and Sonia.
He was voiced by Jaleel White, who also portrayed Steve Urkel in Family Matters, and his singing voice was provided by Samuel Vincent, who also voiced Edd in Ed, Edd n Eddy, Krypto in Krypto the Superdog, and Lloyd Garmadon in LEGO Ninjago.
Appearance[]
Sonic is a small, round blue hedgehog with black nose and eyes and peach-colored fur. On his head he has six points and two on his back. He's wearing red sneakers with both white stripes, he also has white cuffed gloves and stockings and his royal medallion around his neck.
Her winter outfit consists of a red insulated parka with winter boots. A purple scarf is also around his neck. He alternates between wearing a brown fur ushanka hat and yellow headphones.
Personality[]
Sonic is often a voice of reason, although he has a mania for punching friends and foes alike. He has a big heart and is always ready to help anyone in danger. However, he can also be arrogant about his speed and skill and because of this he sometimes has a hard time collaborating as a team and coming up with plans. He is also a bit vain, often bragging about his good looks. Sonic is also extremely frenzied and prefers to handle work alone rather than wait for others. Nevertheless, when he makes mistakes, he admits he was wrong, even if he does it when someone can't hear him. He loves chili dogs, he has a bad label because of them, which bothers Sonia extremely.
He doesn't like water, and an almost paralyzing fear of the ocean as he can't swim, but his determination and his courage help him overcome his fear if necessary. Especially towards his two brothers that he loves.
Also, as the leader of the squad, he always does his best to keep up with his brothers and in most missions, he gives their orders. He proves to be a very strong and capable leader, but he can get to this head. When Luke Periwinkle attempted to create a wedge between Sonic and his brothers, he told Sonic that he is a better leader and that he will be crowned King of Mobius. Before that, Sonic has even told himself that when he is crowned, he will assign positions in his court to his brothers.
History[]
After the triplets were born, Doctor Robotnik took over Mobotropolis and converted it into the polluted, metallic city of Robotropolis. A bounty was awarded to Queen Aleena who was then forced to hide them. She eventually she appeared before her the Oracle of Delphius who told her a prophecy to separate her children to save them. Aleena sent her brothers to three different keepers.
When Sonic was young, his adoptive parents were arrested and their home was destroyed, Sonic was so welcomed by him Uncle Chuck. Sonic learned to play the electric guitar, which soon realized that it could also be used as a weapon, then formed a band, after meeting Sonia and Manic. The Oracle of Delphius reappeared to tell the children about their origins.
Not long after, Doctor Robotnik captured Uncle Chuck, as well as the guardians of Sonia and Manic and roboticized them. It was then that the three hedgehog babies would form an alliance with each other to locate the missing mother.

Trivia[]
- This version of Sonic would be the last to have Jaleel White voicing him.
- His voice sounds more matured compared to his counterparts in the previous shows, this is due to Jaleel White maturing.
- Sonic's quote "I'm waiting" was a common phrase used by his counterparts in Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog and the Sonic the Hedgehog animated series.
- This version of Sonic was the first alternate Sonic featured in the Archie Comics who was taken from an existing branch of the Sonic franchise rather than created new; he would later be followed by the version of Sonic from the universe of Sonic X.
- While the show was cancelled before an official ending could ever be written, Sonic's story-and that of the Sonic Underground series-was intended to be resolved in a single-issue story that was going to be included in Sonic Universe #50, but this was later abandoned because material of the show is off-limits.
- Sonic and his siblings were also apparently never able to find their mother and fulfill the prophecy from the Oracle, it was also never revealed if they restored peace on Mobius or if Dr. Robotnik defeated and roboticized them.
- However in 2013, Archie comics published the Sonic & Mega Man: Worlds Collide crossover storyline, Sonic's current multiverse ceased to exist when Dr. Eggman launched the Super Genesis Wave in conjunction along with Dr. Wily, causing the Prime Zone to be irreversibly rewritten and the multiverse to collapse in on itself, destroying most prior known realities. The Sonic Underground reality is also implied to have been one of them, likely meaning that the latter realities inhabitants were all wiped away from existence with the likely inclusion of Sonic and his siblings.
