Sonic the Hedgehog, also known as his evil ego Super Sonic and his disguise Robert "Bob" Beaky, is the titular main protagonist of the 1993-2002 UK comic book series Sonic The Comic.
He is the leader of the Freedom Fighters based out of the Emerald Hill Zone and is commonly regarded as the hero of Mobius. Unlike any Sonic counterparts, he was originally a brown alien hedgehog (just like Amy Rose) who ironically proclaims himself as ''The Fastest Hedgehog on Planet Mobius''. he met the kindly Doctor Ovi Kintobor, who transformed into the main antagonist. He gave Sonic put on Kintobor's invention The Power Sneakers and test it on the kinetic gyratosphere, until Sonic went too fast and turned into the Blue Hedgehog himself, gaining his abilities to save mobius from Robotnik and other harmful things, also becoming one of the most powerful mobians on planet mobius. He is the archenemy of Doctor Robotnik and the arch-nemesis of his ego Super Sonic.
Appearance[]
Normal Form[]
Sonic is a short anthropomorphic hedgehog with long quills on the back of his head, two large conjoined eyeballs, a round belly with two short quill spines on his back, and a short tail. He has got blue fur that covers most of his body, and peach skin on his belly, muzzle and arms. Originally, he had black eyes, but after getting exposed to Chaos' energy, his irises turned green.
Current Form[]
Sonic is an anthropomorphic hedgehog who wears red striped shoes and white gloves. He appeared in the first issue trying to free all the animals from badniks with a messed up cover art. After ending up inside Chaos' body, his eyes turned green from Chaos Energy.
Super Sonic[]
Unlike Sonic, Super Sonic’s quills are yellow, unkept, and tend to curve upwards, and his pupils are red scary-looking spirals. Super Sonic notably has sharp fangs, and his eyebrows tend to be jagged in appearance.
Biography[]
Past[]
Originally a brown hedgehog and resident of the Green Hill Zone, Sonic accidentally ran into and discovers the lab of benevolent scientist Dr. Ovi Kintobor. At this time, Sonic already claimed to be the fastest hedgehog on the planet, a fact which intrigued Kintobor. The two became friends, and Kintobor showed Sonic his various experiments and inventions.
Kintobor's main mission in life was to rid the planet Mobius of all evil. By using a machine that he called the Retro-Orbital Chaos Compressor (or ROCC) and the Golden Rings of Mobius, he channeled the evil energy into six Chaos Emeralds. However, Kintobor lacked the seventh Emerald that would stabilize the machine. Sonic agreed to help Kintobor search for the final Emerald in exchange for Kintobor using his scientific knowledge to help Sonic to run faster. Although they never found the Emerald, Kintobor's experiments on Sonic's speed eventually bore fruit, when he invented a pair of friction-reducing Power Sneakers.
When testing the Power Sneakers for the first time, Kintobor put Sonic into a "Kinetic Gyratoscope" in order to test Sonic's speed. Sonic ended up breaking the speed of sound, causing an accident that fused Sonic's quills together and turning them a distinctly different blue color. Sonic honed his skills using the various structures around the Emerald Hill Zone and soon learned to control his super-speed, allowing him to perform aerial feats and stunts. His signature move quickly became the "Sonic Spin Attack", which proved useful for destroying Badniks.
The next day, Sonic was hanging out with Kintobor in the latter's lab. Wanting something to eat, the doctor only found a rotten egg (apparently from six months ago) in the fridge, and went to find some salt. However, Kintobor accidentally tripped on a cable and smashed the ROCC's control panel. The machine subsequently exploded, bathing Kintobor and the egg in evil Chaos energy. In the aftermath, Sonic saw that Kintobor had been transformed into the evil Dr. Ivo Robotnik, who subsequently left the lab to "plan".
Sonic the Comic[]
A while later, Sonic and his friend Porker Lewis found a large Ring with Kintobor's brainwaves imprinted on it, which Lewis used to build the Kintobor Computer. However, a few days later, Sonic and Johnny Lightfoot realized that Porker had gone missing. Soon after, they were attacked by "Badniks", robots who claimed to be Robotnik's minions. However, Sonic managed to destroy them with his new technique, the Spin Attack. Much to his horror however, he found out that Porker was inside of one of the Badniks. Sonic then learned from Lewis that Robotnik was planning to conquer Mobius and, along the way, he was kidnapping various mobians and using them as organic batteries for his Badniks.
Wasting no time, Sonic raced across Mobius, liberating the mobians from the Badniks and collecting the Chaos Emeralds. He also had several encounters with Dr. Robotnik, although the doctor was defeated in all of them. Later, Sonic, Johnny and Porker were discussing what to do with the Chaos Emeralds, until Sonic accidentally absorbed their power and transformed him into the wicked Super Sonic for the first time. Fortunately, this transformation did not last long, and Sonic ended up in the Swampland Zone. There, he saved a two-tailed fox cub from drowning. The fox introduced himself to Sonic as Miles Prower, though everybody called him "Tails" because of his two tails. Tails would later on become Sonic's sidekick and best friend.
Sometime later, Sonic and Tails realized that Dr. Robotnik had launched his Death Egg into space, which he could use to conquer the entirety of Mobius. Together, the heroes travelled across many Zones to free them from Robotnik's rule. Eventually, Sonic and Tails used the Tornado to go after the doctor's ship, the Wing Fortress. Afterward, Sonic managed to get onboard the Death Egg, and fought against Robotnik in his deadly battle armour. After defeating the doctor, a chain-reaction was triggered and Sonic escaped the Death Egg as it started to explode. Sonic was soon after saved by Tails in the Tornado while the Death Egg was left deactivated in space.
Sonic subsequently kept the Chaos Emeralds hidden in the North Cave in the Frozen Zone and fought off minor attacks by Robotnik. Unfortunately, on a trip to the Special Zone he discovered too late that the doctor had taken control of his old friend the Omni-Viewer, and he and his friends were thrown forward in time by six months.
Sonic and Porker brought the Chaos Emeralds to know when the emeralds start rising, until the level of the Chaos emeralds rose up, infected Sonic and transformed him into the evil personality turned existing entity called Super Sonic, causing destruction and wreaking havoc whenever Sonic is in danger. After Super Sonic disappeared from the chaos he has caused, he landed on a forest and saw two tails in the river about to drown and pulls them out of the river, but mistakenly realizes it was a fox named Tails, Aka Miles Prower, thinking it was a second fox also going to drown. after having protected mobius from danger, Sonic and Miles became best friends and close as brothers in their relationship. though Sonic isn't much of a genius, Tails and Sonic would be considered much of the brains and brawn.
In the Sonic 3 and Knuckles Arc, Sonic and Tails went to the marble zone, but has sought Robotnik as Sonic tries to defeat him, but was pummeled by the last echidna tribe member Knuckles the Echidna Robotnik calls a "bodyguard". Robotnik then manipulates Knuckles that Sonic stole his emeralds and is coming to Knuckles emeralds. Sonic and Knuckles starts fighting each other and Sonic has won the fight. in the second fight, Knuckles came in for a rematch, and tells sonic about his lies. Reasoning with Knuckles has made him doubt things Sonic is trying to tell him, as Knuckles escapes with a button that sends hard rocked hands to destroy sonic. After making their way to the Hidden Palace, Sonic and Tails has seen Robotnik absorb powers from the chaos emeralds, and has seen tails get crystallized by Robotnik, but now Knuckles has redeemed himself to realize that Robotnik was blackmailing him in their adventure. In their relationship, They really have been getting along and turned out to be best friends while fighting off badniks with each other on their adventures.
His alter-ego, Super Sonic, was responsible for turning Sonic into a yellow, devilish, demonic hedgehog, due to Sonic having too much pressure and absorbing too much power. Sonic cannot control Super Sonic when he comes in action to cause trouble and demolition. Super Sonic was actually created during Sonic having been exposed to Chaos energy, which is why Super Sonic was born as an ego.
Alternate timelines[]
In a timeline created by the Brotherhood of Metallix when they travelled into the past and prevented Kintobor's transformation into Robotnik, so that they would be created by Grimer alone and without a self-destruct mechanism built in, they managed to conquer Mobius. Kintobor mentions that Sonic died at some point in this timeline. Sonic was forced to contribute to the creation of Robotnik in order to erase this timeline.
When Dr. Robotnik became omnipotent, he showed Sonic a reality where he never existed to torment him. Though this didn't affect Robotnik's existence, Sonic's absense resulted in Tails dying and Porker becoming a villain. He put Sonic through many other timelines as they fought, which all ceased to exist when Knuckles depowered Robotnik.
Sonic the Comic Online![]
Act 1[]
Soon after Sonic saved Mobius from destruction by the Syndicate and Shadow, he was caught up in a smear campaign against him, as Kane Broadcasting Corporation picked up shady details of his past and twisted them to make him come off as a villain. Eventually Grimer framed him for an attempt to take over Mobius, leaving him a fugitive, just around the time Dr. Robotnik relaunched his war against Mobius with Drakon Empire's backing. With the populace and even his friends (barring Tails) turned against him, Sonic had to continue fighting Robotnik on his own. At one point he was forcingbly turned into Super Sonic by Dexter Bagstille, leader of the Ultimax team, in a risky attempt to take out both him and New Robotnik Empire. The world was saved from destruction only thanks to intervention from Silver, a hero from the future. After Super Sonic was drained of his Chaos Energy, he inexplicably went missing, and Sonic soon found out that he no longer transformed into him in times of stress.
Sonic ended up defeating both Robotnik and the Drakon Empire, unlocking the new Hyper form in the process. He eventually discovered the weakened Robotnik and drained him of his Chaos Energy completely, turning him back into Kintobor. This didn't last long, however, as the doctor was forced to turn back into his evil self to prevent the Drakons' Chaos Tap from destroying Mobius. Sonic had to agree to let Robotnik rule over one zone for a year, lest he let the planet be destroyed.
Exit: Sonic[]
Years into the future, Sonic became the godfather of Amy's son Johnny. Porker worked on a device to remove Chaos Energy both from the imprisoned Robotnik and Sonic, who started growing weaker as the process went on. The operation was interrupted by Grimer and Super Sonic returning and breaking Robotnik out. In the ensuing fight between the villains and the Freedom Fighters, Super Sonic turned on his allies, killing Grimer and wounding Robotnik, and seemingly killed Sonic as well, but in truth Porker's device managed to wipe away both Robotnik and Super Sonic, leaving behind their good counterparts, and restoring Sonic's health.
Alternate timeline[]
In the unaltered timeline, the one Silver originates from, Super Sonic, now known as "Iblis", had destroyed most of Mobius. Sonic had effectively been unpersoned, all his heroic achievements assigned to Tails. This timeline was erased when Super Sonic was defeated in the past, with Silver remaining its only remnant.

Personality[]
Unlike his mainstream counterpart, this Sonic is a bit more rude and insulting towards some of his allies, like calling Tails Pixel-brain and being egoistical at times. Despite this attitude, he does truly care about his allies and will do anything to save his world.
Through most of the series, Sonic was willing to endanger not only his own safety but those of his friends without a second thought. However, after the death of Johnny Lightfoot at the hands of Chaos, Sonic blamed himself for his death and admitted that, no matter how much he risked his friends' lives, he never thought that anyone would actually die, temporarily quitting the Freedom Fighters and returning with a less egocentric attitude and a much stronger will.

Trivia[]
- He originally had an appearance resembling his one seen on the Western artworks for the original games being his mohawk look. This toned down in later issues which would have a resemblance more to his Japanese design then later his Adventure-present design.
