Biography[]
Backstory[]
Sonya Blade came from a military family, and would join the U.S. military as an adult, rising up the ranks until she joined the Special Forces. One of the highest priority targets were the Black Dragon Clan, and Sonya shared a personal rivalry with their leader, Kano.
Mortal Kombat[]
Sonya and her squad chased down Kano and his gang, but he escaped onto a boat heading to a mysterious island. Sonya followed him, but she and her squad were captured by Shang Tsung, and she was forced to compete in the Mortal Kombat tournament as an Earthrealm contender. During the tournament, she allied with several other contenders, including Liu Kang and Johnny Cage. In her ending, she was the one to defeat Shang Tsung, feeing her squad and saving Earthrealm. In the main version of events, after Liu Kang defeated Shang Tsung, Sonya and Johnny were forced to work with Kano to survive the crumbling island, battling Goro. After the bridge they were on crumbled beneath them, Sonya was separated from Johnny.
Mortal Kombat II[]
Sonya and Kano ended up entrapped in Outworld, and she managed to send a signal to her commander Jax Briggs, urging him to warn Johnny and Liu Kang that Outworld's forces were after them before the signal cut out. Sonya and Kano were imprisoned and displayed as trophies by Shao Khan in his arena. After the tournament was won, Jax managed to rescue Sonya, and they escaped through a portal into Earthrealm. While Kano eluded them, Sonya and Jax knew it would only be a matter of time before they would face him again.
Mortal Kombat 3/Trilogy[]
Sonya and Jax attempted to warn their government of the threat of other Realms. Sure enough, Sonya and Jax found Earthrealm under threat, this time from an invasion by Shao Kahn. Sonya and several others found their souls had been spared in comparison to the rest of Earthrealm, as Raiden's chosen warriors. During the invasion, Sonya found herself facing Kano once more, whom had betrayed his own Realm for Outworld. She confronted him on a skyscraper's rooftop and seemingly killed him once and for all by throwing him off (although he grabbed a lock fo her hair as he fell). While in her own ending she defeated Shao Kahn, in the main version of events Sonya merely aided in the invasion until Kahn's defeat. Afterwards, with Earth restored to normal, Sonya and Jax were able to form the Outworld Investigation Agency to protect their Realm from any future threats.
Mortal Kombat 4/Gold[]
Deadly Alliance[]
Armageddon[]
to be added
In Sonya's non-canon ending, she defeated Blaze, and used her new powers to finally destroy Kano forever. After which, she destroyed all the members of the Black Dragon and Red Dragon Clans, allowing there to be a new era free of their evil.
