Sparks are major characters in Mario + Rabbids: Sparks of Hope. They are a species that were created after an incident which merged Rabbids with Lumas and possess unique powers.
Biography[]
Mario + Rabbids: Sparks of Hope[]
Sparks came into being when Cursa attacked the Comet Observatory and emitted a blast of energy that merged together the Lumas and Rabbids playing there. The blast also flung them away from the observatory, allowing the Sparks to escape Cursa's grasp. However, after merging with Rosalina, Cursa sought to capture and drain Sparks of their energy to eliminate Rosalina's will and gain full control over it's new form.
The Sparks are first encountered by Mario and his friends when one named Starburst landed in the Mushroom Kingdom while being chased by a Darkmess Manta. Starburst helps Mario and Rabbid Peach combat Cursa's forces by keeping their weapons operational in the presence of Darkmess and temporarily increasing their offensive capabilities with it's Turbocharge ability. Once they escaped Cursa, Starburst tells the heroes aboard their spaceship that Rosalina is in danger while they come up with a plan to reach Cursa's Stronghold and put a stop to it's villainy.
The heroes meet multiple Sparks throughout their journey that each have unique powers that can be used in and out of battle. Some Sparks are trapped within the Darkmess Dimension and must be freed by defeating Cursa's minions, while others can be found helping individuals on different worlds or will join the heroes on their adventure voluntarily. Three Sparks eventually lend Beep-0 their powers to shatter obstacles, create new paths, and find hidden secrets.
During their confrontation with Cursa, the heroes manage to release the Sparks that it drained along with Rosalina. In anger, Cursa attempted to swoop down and attack them, but the freed Sparks seemingly used their remaining energy to critically damage it before the heroes combined their attacks to eliminate the threat of Cursa once and for all. The party returned to the Mushroom Kingdom where Beep-0 expressed regret for being unable to save the Sparks, but Rosalina revealed that the energy that gave Sparks life cannot be destroyed and revived them with a flick of her wand.
