Splash Woman, also known by her serial number DLN-067, is one of the 8 Robot Master bosses from Mega Man 9. She is of Dr. Light's Robot Masters that Dr. Wily dragooned to do his bidding. She was designed to aid drowning swimmers and sinking ships at sea, resulting in great swimming but poor land mobility, armed with a trident that allows her to pierce metal and which she uses for self-protection. She also enjoys singing, but tends to do so in private due to her slight Agoraphobia.
Personality[]
Splash Woman has a beautiful voice and is fond of karaoke. She is afraid of crowds.
Appearance[]
Splash Woman resembles a blue-haired mermaid who has a bob cut. She wears a light blue crop top-like garment that has a golden gem in the centre, a white collar, and black sleeves with white clamshell-styled puffs at the shoulders. She has a human-like face with fair "skin" as well as a body with a dark blue torso. Splash Woman's lower body is a blue piscine tail with white fins on the end.
Biography[]
Splash Woman was one of the Robot Masters who had expired, so she was sent to be scrapped. Dr. Wily tricked her and 7 others into believing he could save them by bringing them into his custody. She and the rest were then reprogrammed to help Wily conquer the Earth. After Wily's defeat, Dr. Light rebuilds her back to normal and Auto is seen taking a picture of her at the end of the game, and it is implied that she goes back to her old job.
Other Media[]
Archie Comics[]
Splash Woman was shown in issue 19 helping Oil Man and Roll save people from a shipwreck. Sadly, she was not able to join her fellow Light Robot Masters in helping fight off the Robot Master army of Dr. Wily, as instead a copy was taken through a chronal anomaly to fight against them. Splash Woman was later knocked offline by the Ra Moon's electromagnetic field when the maniac supercomputer announced his plans to destroy the world, her corpse washing up upon a beach.
Trivia[]
- Concept art reveals that Splash Woman was not going to be in the game. Instead, a male Robot Master named Ocean Man who was likely based on a Triton would've appeared in what would be her place. He had a trident grafted into his right arm, leaving him with only one hand on his left arm. He also slightly resembled Nepuchūn, who ironically worked for the antagonistic Stardroids, although Ocean Man would appear more handsome.
- Splash Woman is the fourth Robot Master to be based on a mythical creature, as she resembles a mermaid (and is thus the only one of them so far to not have legs). Kentauros Man, who appeared in Mega Man 6 as Centaur Man, was the first, taking his design from a centaur (hence his names). Shade Man from Mega Man 7 is based on a vampire, and Tengu Man from Mega Man 8 takes his design from a Japanese tengu goblin.
- Splash Woman is the only Robot Master who doesn't have legs as mentioned above, and is the second character in the series who doesn't. (Cloud Man and Astro Man don't count due to their vehicles.) Lotos, who appeared in the Ruby-Spears take, is the first character, although he isn't a Robot Master.
- She is thus the second Robot Master boss (after Centaur Man) to not have humanoid legs. However, Ocean Man did have legs.
