~ Springy's final quote in the series, now fully reformed. |
Springy is a major antagonist of the Inanimate Insanity series, serving as the secondary antagonist of the series' third season, Inanimate Insanity Invintational.
He was a formerly deranged and corrupted mascot for the fictional cereal brand, Springtastic!, and the former arch-enemy of Bot. Eventually during the final episodes of the season, he joined The Unvitational Committee, led by Walkie-Talkie to get revenge on MePhone4 for rejecting him, before ultimately finding good within himself and assisting the heroes.
He is voiced by Zuwie LeFou.
Appearance[]
Springy, as his name suggests, is a helical compression spring. He has a set of goofy cartoon eyes, a large mouth, and red gloves.
In his rusted form, he becomes much taller due to his spring body being dislocated, while his eyes are much smaller, and his gloves are damaged.
Biography[]
In his debut episode, "Spring on the Breakfast!", Springy was revealed to have his cereal brand, Springtastic! collaborate with MePhone4 and Inanimate Insanity Invitational. Although the contestants recognize him and his cereal, one contestant does not, and is confused by him.
During the episode's challenge, Springy guides the contestants through it, while attempting to record some information about them. Upon getting to know Bot, Springy requests MePhone4 to sign a contract so that he can use their likeness for his brand. Meanwhile, eliminated contestant and MePhone4's assistant, The Floor becomes suspicious with Springy's antics.
When Springy and MePhone4 are waiting for the contestants to escape the giant cereal box, the latter questions about modeling the robots inside the boxes as the older contestants, before the former backs him up about placing them there to remind them about their past selves, and how they should spring back up. MePhone4 becomes interested by that and makes a remark about the good old days when he would watch television and eat cereal, before Springy compliments him as his favorite, in a rather unsettling manner.
When Cabby emerges from the cereal box first to complete the challenge, Springy appears and states to her "that is all that she can be", before Bot lands. Springy then reveals to Bot that MePhone4 has signed a contract to allow him to use their likeness, and plans on bringing them back with him to his brand's company as the new mascot. As Bot becomes confused on what he is saying, Springy excitedly shouts about using their likeness for a line of toys based off of them, as he then starts to harass Bot over this.
This incidentally leads to Bot escaping, and MePhone4 calling off the sponsorship, as Springy then angerly threatens to kill them. However, Cabby knocks him off the cereal box, which at first, Springy isn't intimidated by, as he claims he can spring back up, before being informed by Bot to look down. Finding The Floor with his mouth open, Springy is left to panic as he gets his just desserts and eaten by The Floor who remarks about him needing more milk.
In “The Show Must Go On", Springy finally escapes the ground, as Walkie-Talkie greets him and plans vengeance on MePhone4. As Springy's fist emerges, it glitches.
In "A Jury of Your Fears", Springy is seen alongside Walkie-Talkie, recruiting Sprinkles onto their committee. As he laments about MePhone4 rejecting him and causing his deformed appearance, Walkie-Talkie decides to recruit some other characters as well, which causes Springy to happily rejoice in their plan.
Later on during the discussion to determine the winner of Inanimate Insanity Invintational, the members of The Unvintational Committee incite a riot against the contestants and MePhone4. Upon Bot protesting, he shoves them back in their cage while laughing maniacally and ranting down to them. During the committee's announcement, he also revealed to have built replicated toys in the finalists' likenesses, before digging up and trapping The Floor in a jar, as revenge for eating him. The finalists are then left at Springy, and the rest of The Unvintational Committee's mercy.
In the following episode, "You Can't Do This Forever", when Cabby realizes the truth about MePhone4, Springy shouts in excitement, before she declares a poll on if the committee should execute MePhone4 or not. Springy sticks with the members who want to execute him, and against Dr. Fizz, Zoetrope, and Groscer, who believe their are other solutions besides death. When Cabby mentions that Springy would want justice, he agrees with that, and decides that it would be a goodtime to showcase his newest toy, based on the likeness of Bot, as a way to spite them. When Bot becomes angered by this, Springy reminds them that he still possesses his contract with MePhone4, breaking them emotionally.
During The Unvintational Committee's discussion, Springy attempts to alter his story with MePhone4 in his image, by stating he came all the way to Paradise, only for his sponsorship to be cancelled, and for him to be eaten by The Floor, in an attempt to portray MePhone4 in the wrong. Balloon corrects him that he only wanted to create toy replicas of them, before Springy rebuttals back.
Cabby also attempts to confront Springy, which he quickly disposes and laments about her futile attempt to reform him. Cabby then reveals what she was about to say, and states that Springy is a soulless nobody who only cares for himself, as opposed to Bot who worked hard to find their true identity after being stuck in another person's life, and concludes that all he ever does is destroy. As a result, Springy's ego breaks and he has an emotional breakdown against Cabby, as she finally snap at everyone, Springy included, which causes him to realize the error of his ways.
Even though Springy voted to execute MePhone4, when Groscer reads the tallies and concludes the MePhone4 will not be executed, he first stares in disbelief, before smiling over the matter. Unfortunately the moment is killed when Walkie-Talkie decides to kill MePhone4 at her own hands, which leaves Springy to grab the jar containing The Floor and confront her.
When on the peak of the volcano, Springy calls out to Walkie-Talkie, who believes he wants to do the honors of personally executing MePhone4. Springy explains to her that even though MePhone4 deserves pain, that executing him is crossing the line since he brought life to the show, and his desire to help. Walkie-Talkie has none of that and claims she was built to keep the season alive, while Springy was thrown away while at the height of achieving his purpose. Springy then simply states that it is just business and that they should hop to the next thing, causing Walkie-Talkie to reject his redemption offer, before the finalists appear and corner her. Springy then makes a remark about how Silver Spoon just wants to play, before her plans are foiled, deactivating the Spring! Toys that were controlled by her.
However, when the Spring! Bot then gains sentience and attempts to push MePhone4 into the mouth of the volcano, Springy directly lunges at it, before deactivating the toy and tossing it to the side. MePhone4 then witnesses the moment before Springy's death, and refusing to let another character suffer a permanent death, quickly modifies his code in the MeLife app. After Springy perishes in the magma, MePhone4 revives him, which additionally reverts his appearance back to normal, much to his delight. Now finding purpose about everyone being who they want be, Springy makes amends with MePhone4, the finalists, and the other characters, before stating they're square, before taking the Spring! Bot, and leaping off into the distance, now fully redeemed.
