Spruce, or as he prefers to be called nowadays, Bruce, is one of the three tritagonists (alongside John Dory and Clay) in Trolls Band Together. He's the heartthrob of the well-known boy band BroZone and the second brother. He's the younger brother of John Dory and the older brother of Clay, Floyd, and Branch.
He is voiced by Daveed Diggs (who voiced Dos in Ferdinand, Cyborg in DC League of Super-Pets, and Sebastian in the live-action remake of The Little Mermaid).
Personality[]
Spruce is the charismatic heartthrob of BroZone; he exudes confidence in his beauty and charm, even with a few extra pounds—according to Poppy, he hasn't lost his youthful charm. Previously, his focus revolved around maintaining John Dory's "perfect" image and sculpted physique. Now, he's a dedicated husband to his wife and father of 13 children, managing affairs on Vacay Island and his bustling restaurant. Despite reminiscing about his days in BroZone, Spruce isn't eager to relive them, preferring discretion when asked for an autograph, content and relaxed with his current happiness.
As a paternal figure, Spruce naturally gravitates towards nurturing others, often taking on the role of caregiver for individuals like Branch and Tiny Diamond. His laid-back demeanor complements his current approach to life, showing his satisfaction with where he's landed in life.

Past[]
Spruce, the second oldest member of BroZone, held the title of "heartthrob" due to his striking looks and impeccable abs. The pressure to maintain this image was draining, a task enforced by John Dory's persistence. Before the final concert, Spruce and Clay attempted to voice their concerns, sensing the strain of perfection, but John Dory insisted on upholding it for the sake of family harmony.
When the concert faltered due to a moment of hesitation deviating from John Dory's lead, the brothers lost their cohesion in the pursuit of this forced perfection. The aftermath led to a confrontation where both Clay and Spruce expressed their discontent, leading to their departure from the band. Despite Floyd's pleas, they left, with John Dory storming off in anger.
Spruce found solace on Vacay Island, where he met Brandy, his future wife. He opened a restaurant and gradually distanced himself from the BroZone days, relinquishing his perfect abs but gaining freedom to pursue his passions. As he settled into life on the island, marrying Brandy and raising their numerous children despite their differences, he shared snippets of his past with his skeptical kids. Eventually, he embraced a new identity, adopting the name "Bruce" and consciously moved on from his BroZone life, having no desire to reconnect with the rest of the Pop Trolls. He remained content running Vacay Island until the events of Trolls Band Together unfolded.
Trolls Band Together[]
Years later, he was surfing, but didn't notice that two of his brothers John Dory and Branch have arrived looking for him with their friends Poppy and Tiny Diamond. Bruce was taking orders for the customers until he heard John Dory trying to get his attention. Unfortunately, Bruce ignored John Dory until he heard him say brothers. Hearing this, Bruce realized that John Dory was here with their other brothers. Although he was secretly sad that Clay and Floyd wasn't with John Dory, Bruce was happy that Branch was as he ran to toss him and tease him. Bruce also meets his brothers friends Poppy and Tiny Diamond, as he seemed pleased to see other Trolls again after a long time. When John Dory tried to explain their reasons for being here, Bruce interrupted him then introduced his brothers and new friends to his family, wife and kids. After taking care of a couple of things with his kids and discovering that one of them has pink eye, Bruce was informed by John Dory their reasons for coming, but wasn't interested in hearing what his older brother had to say when he mention the perfect family harmony then turned away. However, hearing that Floyd had been taken captive through John Dory, Bruce turned back to his brothers direction in shock then suggest they call the authorities. Although, when John Dory tells him that Floyd was in a diamond prison, Bruce understood the situation then ask his older brother as to how they could pull off the perfect family harmony because of what happen the last time they attempted to do so.
When John Dory suggest doing a practice song, Bruce was unsure, but hearing his kids doubting him being in a band and motivation from them alongside Poppy convinced him to do a song with his older brother. Upon getting up on stage, Bruce happily hugs John Dory and laughed with him before starting the song. During the song, Bruce and John Dory dragged Branch on stage with them as they attempted to get their younger brother to smile, after seeing his sour expression. Fortunately, Bruce and John Dory got Branch to smile then sing with them. Also, Bruce and John Dory didn't mind that Branch invited Poppy to join in. Bruce even figured out that Poppy is Branch's girlfriend. After the song, Bruce and John Dory did a side hug as they expressed excitement in singing together after being apart for many years. Convinced and worried for Floyd's safety, Bruce decided to help his brothers rescue their sibling. Before leaving, Bruce apologize to Brandy and was assured by her that she'll take care of everything as she understood that if he didn't go help his brothers save Floyd he wouldn't forgive himself. Also, Bruce found out that Brandy and more of their kids caught pink eye as he freaked out but John Dory grabbed him so they could leave and to prevent him from getting sick. Bruce gets into Rhonda then heads out with his brothers and friends for the mission.
While on the road, Bruce was driving with Tiny Diamond on his lap listening to Velvet and Veneer as he tells them that his kids love them. However, Bruce was disappointed to find out that they're the ones who have Floyd. Bruce and Branch then become concern when they realize that Floyd might not make it through a show that Velvet and Veneer were doing. Also, Bruce didn't mind John Dory persuading Tiny Diamond into pressing a button in Rhonda as he knew what his older brother was up to. After a trip to the Hustle Dimension, Bruce and the group arrived at Hole N' Fun, which was where Clay lives. Upon arriving, Bruce and the group became scare of a talking clown until it was revealed to be a Troll named Viva talking to it. Bruce and the group were provided food by the group of Trolls called the Putt Putt Trolls as he commented on how good it was. However, Bruce freaked out the Putt Putt Trolls when he said a word they didn't like, due to associations with Bergens. When Clay appears, Bruce recognized his brother as he goes to greet him and did a hand shake together. Also, Bruce explained to Clay that he changed his name, which he liked, and commented on how fancy his brother has gotten.
When Clay asked about Floyd, Bruce and the group explained that their brother had been taken prisoner and need his help to rescue him, which he said yes. Also, Bruce and the group find out that Viva is Poppy's older sister. While the two sister get to know each other, Bruce went to spend time with his brothers and enjoyed being together after being apart for so many years. Bruce, John Dory and Branch were explained by Clay of Viva's past and how this group made it to Hole N' Fun. However, Bruce and the group attempt to leave, but found out through Clay that Viva wasn't gonna let Poppy go. Unfortunately, they were caught and locked in as Viva and the group of Putt Putt Trolls tried to stop them from leaving. Bruce was surprised that Branch and John Dory were defending Poppy about the Bergen's, but was convinced that they're not enemies with his species anymore. When Branch, who had been trying to tell him and their brothers the life he had growing up and feelings, tried to relate to Viva, Bruce and his two brothers became confused as to what their youngest sibling was talking about. Fortunately, the group was able to escape when Clay opened the door as he explained to Viva that he doesn't want to lose Floyd. Hearing this, Bruce and John Dory smile with pride in Clay for prioritizing the safety of their younger sibling. With Clay joining them, Bruce and the group head to Mount Rageous to rescue Floyd.
Later, Bruce, his brothers and Poppy tried to rehearse the perfect family harmony, but led to another clash between him, John Dory and Clay. Bruce expressed his resentment towards John for constantly pushing him to embody attractiveness and explained the main reason why he left the band so he won't be pushed by anyone else like his older brother did to him. However, Bruce and the other brothers fail to realize that their selfish reasons for leaving the day the band broke up and intentions to go their separate ways again once they rescue Floyd was hurting Branch's feelings. Bruce seemed unhappy when John Dory unintentionally hurt Branch's feelings by mocking his idea of being a family again. Although, seeing Branch getting upset and understood that John Dory isn't trying to hurt their brother like that, Bruce tried to calm his youngest brother down, but unintentionally hurt his feelings further when he told him to not be a baby. Bruce and his two brothers were then called out by Branch for their selfish actions and for treating him like a baby. However, Bruce became shock when Branch reveals their Grandma Rosiespuff's fate and had no one else to take care of him, which got him and their two brothers to realize that he grew up alone.
After Branch storms off, Bruce and his two brothers became filled with regret in hurting Branch's feelings as they realize how much he cared about them, after Poppy showed them the drawing of his bunker that he built for them. Bruce also began to have second thoughts about leaving his brothers again as he realized that they, including his wife and kids, are the only remaining relatives he has left in his life and wants to be a family with his siblings once more. In addition, Bruce realized that his selfish actions exposed Branch and Floyd to danger. However, the three agreed to wait on working things out between them in order to focus on saving Floyd and had decided to meet back up with Branch so they could apologize to him, after realizing that their youngest sibling with their friends went to save their brother by themselves. Unfortunately, their attempt to wait would come back to bite them as cooperation remained elusive, which caused him and his brothers to get captured.
During a draining car chase, Bruce and John Dory were rescued by Viva, witnessing Floyd's capture and draining by Velvet onstage. Trapped in a bottle, Bruce summoned his remaining energy to perform with Branch, Clay, and John Dory, ultimately achieving family harmony after Floyd's self-sacrifice. Mourning Floyd's loss, they found solace in his revival.
Veneer's confession and acceptance of charges led to Velvet's downfall. Eventually, Bruce, along with his family and friends, reunited at Vacay Island for a performance, joined by Kismet, Branch's former boy band, as special guests. This event marked a new beginning, fostering a reconnected relationship among Bruce and his brothers.
