Like his father Crush, Squirt has an optimistic and easygoing personality. He is also fearless, as he likes to play in the East Australian Current despite the risk of being swept away. Additionally, he is shown to be kind through his interactions with Marlin, Dory and Nemo. Likewise, he aids Marin and Dory on their way to find Nemo.
Squirt appears when Marlin and Dory are in the East Australian Current. He is first seen playing hide-and-seek with Dory. Squirt later does awesome tricks in the current until Marlin tells him to stop. Marlin tells him and the other baby turtles the story of why Nemo is lost. This made all the other sea creatures listen to Marlin's story. Squirt is also seen before the current leaves with the other turtles. Back at school at the end of the film, Squirt is a new student for Mr. Ray.
Squirt appears as a minor character, once again in the EAC when Marlin and Dory are travelling through it to Morro Bay in California. When Crush instructs Marlin to keep a tight hold on his shell to avoid falling off, Squirt reiterates his father's advice to Marlin. When Dory brings up her parents, Jenny and Charlie, who are awaiting her in Morro Bay, she and Marlin have a talk with Squirt and the other sea turtle kids. Squirt and another unnamed turtle kid ask Dory what her parents look like, and she, because of her anterograde amnesia, thinks they were blue and yellow, while Nemo assumes that they must be blue and yellow like she is. Dory then says that they should just wait to arrive in Morro Bay to see what they look like. When the three fish arrive to their destination, which is a sunken ship, Squirt and his father wish them good luck in finding Dory's parents.
