Squishington A. Peabody, often referred to as Squishy, is one of the deuteragonists (alongside Molly) of the cartoon Bump in the Night.
He was voiced by Rob Paulsen, who is famous for voicing Carl Wheezer.
Appearance[]
Squishington is a blue, gelatinous, blobby creature who has round blue petals all over his head, a long nose and his lips have a bit of an overbite. He also appears to have no legs.
Personality[]
Caring, funny and soft-spoken; Squishington is a shy, neurotic, modest, nervous, oversensitive, naive, thoughtful, moralistic, compassionate, kind, forgiving, oftentimes tolerant, optimistic, analytical, sympathetic, empathetic and wise yet fearful, silly, goofy, cowardly, anxiety riddled dude who is often unconfident, prone to panicking and happens to have ridiculously low self-esteem and providing humorous quips (and he sometimes screws up helping out in some situations with Bumpy at times, and tends to make a fool of himself many times due to his own cowardice and silliness making him do some bad decisions here and there), but appears to have a good heart.
For a blob who lives in the bathroom (specifically the upper decker of a toilet), he is usually pretty intelligent and supportive to the point of being a problem-solver to an extent despite his modesty and tends to pick up on things that others might overlook so he can help his friends solve issues. In fact, Bumpy even admits this habit of his, and points out how intelligent Squishy is when he puts his mind to it (thus confirming that he usually tends to be much smarter than Bumpy).
He serves as the caring straight man to Bumpy's goofy wise guy antics. Heck, Bumpy in season 2 breaks the fourth wall to even admit to the viewers that Squishington is "the greatest straight man on TV" once Bumpy mistakes a turkey for a woolly mammoth (and Squishington points this out to Bumpy).
Even when he does anything good, helpful or smart, he never seems to see himself highly and does anything to please Bumpy (even more so than the supposedly people-pleasing Molly).
Sometimes he appears to be a little impulsive and gluttonous, similar to Bumpy to some level.
Despite being completely insecure, a neat freak who sees himself as a clean boring face, and is literally a bit of a doormat for Bumpy (as well as something of an anxious goofball), he does have some limits with Bumpy, as he will crack under pressure and tell him off if Bumpy isn't too polite with his feelings in "Better Homes & Garbage" and "A Sneeze in Time". Additionally, he shows bravery, such as boldly sucking in info and transferring it to a hostile robot to defuse a fight, turning off its aggressive side and help the robot sisters get along once again (which Molly commends Squishington for such a heroic act that could've hurt himself).
Even though he hates germs, he managed to earn the heart of Germ Girl and have her smitten by Squishy himself.
Relationships[]
Molly Coddle and Bumpy are Squishington's best friends. He cares for them very much, just as they do for him. Bumpy calls Molly his "favorite gal", implying his preference of her over the Cute Dolls and other female residents of the house (most likely because they are too "girly" for his liking). Bumpy and Squishington are shown to be highly distressed whenever they fear that something terrible has happened to Molly.
He specifically shows tons of compassion and love towards Bumpy, tending to admire Bumpy and always thinks of him even if Bumpy finds his caring a little excessive.
He has also shown affection for Molly, but the affections are arguably not romantic; Squishington might act chivalrous to Molly to show how important their friendship is.
