Courtney Elizabeth Whitmore is the titular main protagonist of the CW television series Stargirl. She moves to Blue Valley with her mother and newfound step-brother and step-father. Courtney discovered the Cosmic Staff in the basement of her new home with her step-father's things a heroine who carries on the legacy of Starman as Stargirl and later, Starwoman.

Courtney revives the original Justice Society, including social outcasts Yolanda Montez, Beth Chapel, and Rick Tyler, to stop the JSA's arch-rival group, the Injustice Society.

Biography[]

Early Life[]

Courtney Elizabeth Whitmore was born in 2005 to a single working mother, Barbara Whitmore and her boyfriend, Sam Kurtis. When she was four, Courtney's father, Sam gifted her one of the lockets his mother had given him. He only came in and out of Courtney and Barbara's lives once in awhile, only visiting Courtney at Christmas. However, these visits stopped in 2010, when Courtney turned five. Barbara had to work, but she left Courtney with her best friend Mary Kramer and her mother.

Barbara spent two years looking for Sam for Courtney's sake; however Barbara eventually gave up. Courtney persevered and became a gymnast, even becoming a blue belt in karate. She also attended Sherman High, where she became a star athlete and had a strong group of friends.

Powers[]

While Courtney doesn't have any powers herself, she is able to generate abilities through the Cosmic Staff, which only she can wield. The staff chose her as its new wielder, making her worthy of its power. She becomes a conduit for the cosmic energy within the staff, forming a bond that is so strong, her very belief fuels it and becomes entwined with its power.

  • She is the only main character to have a middle name; Elizabeth.
  • In the DC Comics, Courtney's first alias is the Star-Spangled Kid. The Shade briefly calls her this during their first encounter.
  • Both Courtney and Yolanda are the two members of the Justice Society who have dated Injustice Society. Yolanda dated Brainwave's son, Henry King Jr. And Courtney dated Icicle's son, Cameron Mahkent.
